Rangers transfer targets summer 2024: Gers targeting youth

After a bruising end to the 2023/24 season, where they lost both the title and Scottish Cup final to Celtic, this summer feels like a big one for Rangers as they look to bounce back immediately under manager, Philippe Clement.

Clement took over in October 2023 and has impressed large sections of the Rangers fanbase, but others believe his loyalty to some of the experienced players in the dressing room cost Gers at the end of the season.

Will Clement listen to the fans and rebuild the squad with fresh, new blood or will he continue to lean on the old guard? Here are the latest rumoured Rangers transfer targets.

Hot rumours

Mahamadou Diarra – WSG Tirol

Mahamadou Diarra is the latest forward to be linked with a move to Rangers this summer amid speculation that Cyriel Dessers isn't fancied by Clement. Diarra only moved to Europe last season but impressed in his first season for WSG Tirol in Austria despite being just 20 years old.

According to reports in Austria, Rangers have been in contact with Diarra's representatives summer about a potential move. Gers would reportedly be willing to pay £1.7m for the Mali under-23 international, a figure that could tempt WSG Tirol.

Like many of Rangers' signings and targets this summer, Diarra's best years are ahead of him which means fans will need to exercise patience if he does come through the door this summer..

Ibrahim Adel – Pyramids FC

Ibrahim Adel is one name to keep an eye on over the final few days of the transfer window as up to five British clubs are said to be interested in the exciting Egyptian winger. Adel was one of the standout players at the Olympics this summer and Rangers are said to be interested in making a move for him.

Sources in Egypt say that the player is keen on a move to Rangers and has ordered Pyramids FC to accept any bid from the club for him. The Egyptian outfit are said to be holding out for around £5m for the 23-year-old and considering the number of clubs interested in him it would be a surprise if he doesn't get a move somewhere.

Rangers are need in of fresh attacking talent given that Todd Cantwell and Ianis Hagi are both almost certain to leave the club before the end of the window.

Kaiky Fernandes – Almeria

Rangers are also looking into bringing in a new defender before the end of the transfer window and Kaiky Fernandes is someone they've had their eye on for some time.

The Brazilian defender has spent the last two years in Spain with Almeria and is still highly rated by many people back in his native land despite failing to become a regular for Almeria. At the age of 20, it could be time for him to take a leap of faith and Rangers would welcome him with open arms.

According to reports, Rangers have had a loan bid with an option to buy rejected but they could come back in with a better offer in the coming days.
