Racing Santander's struggles continued with a 3-2 defeat against Rayo Vallecano last weekend.
Although they have held the lead in three of their four league outings this season, the hosts have managed to win only one of them, earning just four points from a possible 12.
On the positive side, Jose Alberto Lopez's troops are unbeaten in two home games so far. While they have scored at least twice in both fixtures, the Cantabrian side have also conceded at least twice in both home matches.
Andres Martin is the only absentee for Racing Club, with the midfielder ruled out until October due to a knee injury.
Deportivo Alaves, on the other hand, are coming off an impressive 5-2 victory over Osasuna.
The visitors have been one of La Liga's most impressive sides so far, earning 10 points from a possible 12, which leaves them in second place, a point above Real Madrid and two points behind leaders Barcelona.
It is fair to note, however, that while the Basque side have a perfect three wins from three at home, their only away game ended in a stalemate.
Mikel Rodriguez will miss the remainder of the season due to a cruciate ligament injury and is the only player ruled out for the visiting team.
Lucas Boye is coming off arguably his best-ever performance, as he scored the first hat-trick of his career last weekend. The Argentinian is expected to start alongside strike partner Mariano Diaz, who has six goal contributions in La Liga this season.
This will be the first competitive clash between these sides since January 2023, and their first La Liga encounter since the 2005/06 season. Interestingly, Alaves are unbeaten in the last 11 H2Hs (W6, D5).

Whispers Predicts: Racing Santander 2-2 Alaves
At 6/4 (2.50), Racing Santander are considered favourites by the bookmakers.
Interestingly, five of Alaves' last six trips to this stadium were tied at the end of regulation time, and considering this was also the case in the visiting team's last two away games, we are confident that the spoils will be shared after 90 minutes.
Six of the hosts' last eight fixtures have gone above the 2.5-goal line, and this can be backed at 8/11 (1.73).
We also fancy over 10.5 total corners at 3/4 (1.75), as was the case in four of Racing Club's last five matches.
> Over 2.5 total goals at 8/11 (1.73) | Likelihood: Probable
> BTTS – Yes at 11/20 (1.65) | Likelihood: Probable
