After a difficult end to last season, which saw them lose their last four Championship matches, QPR held their nerve over the summer and decided to go again with Julien Stephen.

Stephen, who was appointed at the beginning of last season, had the R's involved in a push for the playoffs for much of last season, and they will be hoping for a similar campaign this time around.

QPR have enjoyed a brilliant pre-season, which puts them in a fantastic position to get off to a quick start. After drawing against First Vienna, they have won all of their other friendlies this summer.

For the match against Millwall, Stephen is expected to field his strongest possible XI, given that this is their first competitive outing of the season. That could mean competitive debuts for Tariq Lamptey and Glen Kamara.

As for Millwall, there will still be plenty of frustration and disappointment with how their campaign ended in the playoff semi-finals last season.

Under the guidance of Alex Neil, the Lions pushed hard for automatic promotion before ultimately finishing in third place. Defeat to Hull City in the semis was unexpected, and it has likely scarred several members of the squad.

Whether they let these scars impact the season ahead remains to be seen, but Neil's decision to bring in seven new players feels like a smart one, with fresh energy likely needed.

Like his opposite number, Neil will field his strongest available team here, but Tristan Crama and Derek Mazou-Sacko have both been ruled out with injuries.
