Willem II are without a win in 33 straight visits to the Philips Stadion.

The visitors, meanwhile, journey to the Philips Stadion in search of their first league win of the campaign after a difficult opening 10 games.

PSV Eindhoven failed to close the gap on Feyenoord last Sunday as they were held to a 1-1 stalemate by the Eredivisie leaders at the Philips Stadion after a wasteful display in front of goal.

In an end-to-end contest with plenty of goalmouth action, Gus Til opened the scoring in the 21st minute to put the home side in front heading into half time, but Anis Hadj Moussa restored parity for Feyenoord with a 54th-minute strike.

This came five days after PSV Eindhoven secured their first Champions League win of the campaign, defeating Portuguese giants Porto 1-0 at the Estadio do Dragao thanks to a second-half effort from Gus Til.

Having picked up five wins and one draw from their opening six Eredivisie games, PSV has seen momentum take a dip in their most recent four matches, suffering consecutive away defeats against Twente and ADO Den Haag on either side of a 2-0 victory over Heerenveen on October 9 before last weekend’s stalemate with Feyenoord.

This drop-off in form has seen Peter Bosz’s men drop four points behind Feyenoord at the top of the Eredivisie standings, as they currently occupy third place, level on 20 points with Twente and AZ Alkmaar, but they will be backing themselves to bounce back this weekend against an opposing side without a win in 33 straight visits to the Philips Stadion since March 1989 (3D 30L).

On the other hand, Willem II journey to the Philips Stadion enduring a hugely underwhelming start to the league campaign, having managed just two points from the opening 10 matches to sit rock-bottom in the Eredivisie table.

The Tricolores suffered their heaviest league defeat this season last Sunday when they were hammered 6-1 by newly-promoted Cambuur at the Koning Willem II Stadion, with the visitors racing into a three-goal lead inside the opening 18 minutes before going on to seal their biggest away victory in league history.

The defeat against Cambuur saw head coach John Stegeman relieved of his role at the helm of affairs, with Jurgen Streppel stepping into the Willem II hot seat to mark his second stint at the club, following a five-year spell between 2011 and 2016.

Despite their league woes, Streppel’s men will head into the weekend in high spirits, though, having secured a thrilling 4-3 victory over second-tier Helmond Sport in the KNVB Cup thanks to strikes from Devin Haen, Eser Gurbuz, Tonny Vilhena and a 42nd-minute own goal from Sem Dekkers.

Central to their early struggles has been their defensive vulnerability, with Willem II conceding 32 goals already, five more than any other side in the division, while netting 10 at the opposite end of the pitch.

Whispers’ prediction: PSV Eindhoven 4-1 Willem II

PSV Eindhoven will be licking their lips as they go up against a Willem II side who have struggled to get going in the league, and given the gulf in quality and experience between the two sides, we predict the hosts will come away with all three points unscathed, which is currently priced at 7/100 by the bookies.

HT/FT – 1/1 at 33/100 (1.33) is a favourable punt, with PSV leading at half time in five of their last seven matches, while with both sides scoring in six of Willem II’s last seven games, PSV to win + BTTS – Yes at 9/10 (1.90) is our value bet.

Gus Til has netted six league goals this season, and the 28-year-old is currently priced to score at 1/2 (1.50), while the correct score market has a correct score of 4-1 at 10/1 (11.00).
