PSG to win

PSG have won seven consecutive competitive matches and have been particularly productive in attack, including their 4-2 Champions League victory over Barcelona. Their injury problems make this a more difficult assignment, but home advantage and their recent form give them the edge against a Lyon side coming off a 3-0 European defeat.

PSG head into Monday's fixture in strong form, having recovered from an inconsistent opening to the campaign to produce a run of impressive results.

Luis Enrique's side have won seven consecutive competitive matches, placing them firmly in contention domestically while also making a strong start in Europe.

Their latest performance was particularly eye-catching, as they defeated Barcelona 4-2 in the Champions League, showing their attacking quality against the Spanish side, with Desire Doue among those on the scoresheet, but the victory came at a considerable cost.

Khvicha Kvaratskhelia suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury and is expected to miss a substantial period, while Ousmane Dembele and Marquinhos sustained thigh injuries that are expected to keep them out for several weeks.

Nuno Mendes is also unavailable with a muscle problem, leaving Enrique with important decisions to make in both defence and attack.

Despite those setbacks, PSG have demonstrated that they possess several attacking options capable of deciding matches, and they will be counting on home support for this one, having won their last three competitive matches in Paris by a combined score of 13-4.

Lyon, meanwhile, arrive in Paris after suffering their first defeat in the Europa League league phase.

Their 3-0 loss to Hoffenheim was a disappointing result after a positive start to the domestic campaign, and Paulo Fonseca will want his side to respond quickly.

The visitors have nevertheless made an encouraging start in Ligue 1, collecting 14 points from seven matches.

Their 2-1 victory over Nice last weekend showed their ability to recover from a difficult position, with Pavel Sulc and Tanner Tessmann scoring after Elye Wahi had given Nice the lead.

Lyon have also demonstrated resilience in the league, collecting points after falling behind on several occasions, and that ability could be important against PSG, particularly if the hosts attempt to dominate possession and put the visitors under sustained pressure.

However, the European defeat highlighted some defensive vulnerabilities, having conceded six goals across their two Europa League league-phase matches.

The visitors also have selection concerns, with Nicolas Tagliafico and Mohamed Ouedraogo listed among the unavailable players, while Keito Nakamura is suspended following his red card against Nice.

Lois Openda has also been listed as unavailable, reducing Fonseca's options further.

Whispers predicts: PSG 2-1 Lyon

Over 2.5 goals is priced at 1.33 (1/3) and this is a solid pick given that both teams have enough attacking quality to contribute, also making both teams to score at 1.50 (1/2) a great option.

A 2-1 PSG victory is the correct-score prediction, priced at 9.00 (8/1).
