Portugal to win-to-nil

Portugal have won four of their last five encounters with Scotland, keeping clean sheets in three of those matches

Portugal look to make it back-to-back wins in their opening two Nations League games when they play host to Scotland on Sunday.

Steve Clarke's side lost their opening game against Poland in stoppage-time after doing so well to get back into the game from two goals down but now face their toughest test of the group stage.

Portugal preview: Ronaldo back with a bang following Euro disappointment

Roberto Martinez got off to a winning start to the Nations League in what was always going to be a tough fixture at home to Croatia.

Portugal took an early lead via a rare goal from Manchester United full-back Diogo Dalot and Cristiano Ronaldo scored his 131st goal for Portugal shortly after the half-hour mark.

Croatia did pull a goal back just before the break when Dalot put through his own goal but the home side held on to secure a 2-1 victory.

Predicted lineup: Costa (GK), Dias, Dalot, Mendes, Inacio, Fernandes, Silva, Vitinha, Ronaldo, Leao & Neto

Scotland preview: Simply weren't good enough defensively

Games between Scotland and Poland had often proved tight and tense affairs but not Thursday's clash.

Five goals were scored as Poland claimed all three points in dramatic style. The visitors went in at the break two goals up but the new Napoli signings Billy Gilmour and Scott McTominay scored a goal each to bring Scotland back onto level terms.

However, all that good work was undone deep into stoppage time when Poland were awarded their second spot-kick of the game which they converted to pinch all three points at the death.

Predicted lineup: Gunn (GK), Hanley, Robertson, McKenna, Ralston, McLean, McGinn, Christie, McTominay, Gilmour & Dykes
