Portugal have been at the centre of an unwelcome media circus, with Ronaldo's unsanctioned exit from the camp at the end of September dominating headlines.

The 41-year-old started his country's first Nations League clash against Wales on September 24, and while his side won 1-0, his performance was concerningly poor.

Boss Jorge Jesus then left Ronaldo on the bench for Portugal's 2-1 victory against Norway on September 27, and that decision has reportedly fuelled a rift between the player and coach.

The manager opted for Goncalo Ramos as his number nine during the hosts' 4-2 win against Denmark on Thursday, and the centre-forward is set to be supported by Bruno Fernandesbon Sunday despite the fact the Manchester United man was a doubt following an injury scare.

Norway's loss against Portugal in the 2026-27 Nations League was their third in a row against their opponents, and they have only won one of their 11 encounters with their hosts.

The visitors are level on points with both second-placed Denmark and last-placed Wales, with the latter beating them 2-1 on Thursday, though the Norwegians were reduced to 10 men for practically the entire second half.

It would be wrong to suggest that boss Stale Solbakken should be concerned by his team's performances, but he will be keen to address the fact his side have lost three of their last four fixtures in all competitions.

Norway's Torbjorn Lysker Heggem was sent off against Wales, so perhaps Marcus Pedersen will be given a spot in the backline.

Whispers predicts: Portugal 2-1 Norway

A Portugal victory is overwhelmingly favoured by the bookmakers at 8/13 (1.62).

Considering both teams have scored in three of Portugal's last five games, it would make sense to back Both Teams to Score at 1/2 (1.5).

Four of Portugal's seven Nations League goals have been netted before the interval, so there could be value in backing Portugal to Win the First Half at 11/10 (2.1).

Bruno Fernandes provided two assists for Portugal against Denmark, and predicting Bruno Fernandes to Assist at 2/1 (3) could be the way to go.
