Portugal play host to Croatia on Saturday in what is another warm-up game for both nations ahead of their trip to Germany later this month for Euro 2024.

Both of these countries possess the quality to go far at Euro 2024 and while neither are heavy favourites to win in Germany, both will fancy their chances of causing an upset.

When these two teams last locked horns back in 2020, Portugal claimed a 3-2 win in Split to maintain their unbeaten record against Croatia.

Portugal preview: Boast a strong, experienced squad

Cristiano Ronaldo didn't play any part in the 4-2 win over Finland in midweek but could return for the Croatia game.

Just one look at the Portugal squad and you can see that there is a lot of quality in this side and you wouldn't bet against them getting through to the semi-finals at the very least in Germany.

Predicted lineup: Sá (GK), Cancelo, Dias, Mendes, Silva, Palhinha, Vitinha, Neves, Jota, Leão & Conceição

Croatia preview: An aging side

Euro 2024 feels like the last chance saloon for the core of this Croatia side as Domagoj Vida, Luka Modrić, Ivan Perišić and Andrej Kramarić are between the ages of 32-38 and surely don't have another major international tournament in them.

The worry for most Croatia fans will be the lack of young talent in the current squad with Luka Sučić and Martin Baturina the only players aged under 23. Having said that, this Coraita side certainly has talent in it and you wouldn't bet against them getting through to the quarter-finals.

Predicted lineup: Livaković (GK), Vida, Sosa, Erlić, Juranović, Perišić, Kovačić, Majer, Baturina, Kramarić & Petković

Player to watch – Cristiano Ronaldo

Portugal's captain, talisman and record goalscorer Cristiano Ronaldo could make his return to the squad this weekend after missing out on the Finland game.

The 39-year-old who has scored 128 goals in 206 appearances for Portugal still leads the line better than anyone else and would wouldn't bet against the former Real Madrid and Man Utd star from challenging for the Golden Boot award come the end of Euro 2024.

Could make his 207th appearance for Portugal this weekend

We're backing Ronaldo to impress against Croatia this weekend should he start the game or come on as a substitute as his desire and determination for his country has never looked like dwindling which is why he is the record goal scorer and cap holder for his beloved nation.
