Team News, Preview, and Porto vs Wolves Lineups
Porto
The giants of Portugal football had a quiet summer thus far bringing in only one player, a center-forward Fran Navarro who arrived from Gil Vicente. There were, however, some departures including the one of center-back Diogo Leite who joined Union Berlin while Mateus Uribe, Wilson Manafa, Nanu, and Fernando Andrade left as their contracts expired. Porto's form has been impressive, they finished their domestic season with 12 straight victories and continued with that kind of form when they defeated Portimonense in their first friendly match of the preseason. Joao Mario is not expected to play in this tie due to injury concerns.
Provisional lineup: Costa, Carmo, Cardoso, Wendell, Carraca, Grujic, Baro, Otavio, Franco, Martinez, Evanilson.
Wolves
The Wolverhampton Wanderers are in the midst of an interesting summer. They were one of the first teams to do business with Saudi Arabia billionaires when they sold their star player Ruben Neves. The club then reinvested that money by completing Matheus Cunha's transfer from Atletico Madrid on a permanent deal while also adding defensive midfielder Boubacar Traore from Metz. Matt Doherty is back in the Premier League on a free transfer, also from Atletico. Tom King will bring some options as a reserve goalkeeper. There were other departures as well next to Neves. Nathan Collins was sold to Brentford while Conor Coady moved to the Championship where he will represent Leicester.
Provisional lineup: Sa, Dawson, Toti, Doherty, Hoever, Lemina, Traore, Nunes, Gomes, Guedes, Jimenez.
The only new player for Porto during this summer's transfer window is Fran Navarro, the 25-year-old Spaniard who last played for Gil Vicente where he scored 37 goals in 79 appearances. The Spanish international will be a valuable asset for Porto as they try to regain the domestic title.
Navarro also played for Valencia where he accumulated 97 appearances with 27 goals on the record. The Mestalla outfit is the place where he started his career in its youth program. Later on, he moved on loan to Belgium's Lokeren before returning to Valencia's reserve squad. Navarro wanted a new challenge as his career with Valencia didn't go as planned, so he chose to join Gil Vicente which proved to be a good decision.
