Porto or draw

Porto have won fur of their last six matches in all competitions.

Porto will be hoping to secure their first points in this season's new-look Europa League after losing their opener against Bodo/Glimt.

Manchester United provide the opposition for the Portuguese hosts this Thursday and manager Erik ten Hag really needs a win as his job is under threat.

Porto vs Man Utd prediction: Porto to avoid defeat?

Key Stats

  • Man Utd are without a win in their last three matches.
  • Over 2.5 goals have been produced in each of Porto's last four fixtures.
  • At least three goals have been scored in four of Man Utd's last six outings.

Correct score prediction: Porto 2-1 Man Utd

Porto have won their last three home games, scoring at least two goals in the process but Thursday's hosts have only kept two clean sheets in their last six attempts, so we're backing a final scoreline of 2-1 in the Portuguese side's favour.

Pre-game odds and win probability: Man Utd the slight favourite

  • HOME: 2/1 (3.00) – 33.3%
  • DRAW: 5/2 (3.50) – 28.6%
  • AWAY: 6/4 (2.50) – 40%

*odds from Ladbrokes, subject to change

Man Utd are the expected winner of this game with a probability of 40% but we're backing Porto to get something out of this game.

Man Utd preview: Performing poorly

Some had thought that Erik ten Hag's side had turned a corner following their 3-0 win against Southampton in the Premier League and their 7-0 EFL Cup victory over Barnsley. However, draws with Crystal Palace and Twente were followed up with a 3-0 home defeat at the hands of Tottenham, leaving many asking if this was the right time to sack ten Hag.

Mason Mount and Kobbie Mainoo both picked up injuries during that Spurs defeat and could now miss the Porto game along with Harry Maguire, Luke Shaw, Leny Yoro and Tyrell Malacia.

Predicted lineup: Onana (GK), Mazraoui, de Ligt, Dalot, Martínez, Fernandes, Ugarte, Eriksen, Rashford, Zirkzee & Garnacho

Player to watch: Galeno

The Brazilian midfielder only made two appearances in the Primeira Liga during his first spell with the Portuguese giants before he was sold to Braga. Galeno quickly made a name for himself in the Portuguese league which promoted Porot to re-sign the winger in 2022.

The Brazilian winger has scored seven goals in all competitions

After scoring 16 goals in all competitions last season, Galeno has netted seven goals in nine appearances across all competitions in 2024/25 and we're backing him to put in another impressive performance on Thursday against Man Utd.
