Porto vs Estoril prediction: Dragoes to carry the day
Key stats
- Four of the last five meetings between Porto and Estoril have seen at least three goals scored, with a combined 16 goals netted across the five games since December 2023.
- There have been three or more goals scored in five of Estoril’s last six games, with the Canarinhos failing to keep a clean sheet in five of the six matches since the start of October.
- Porto have opened the scoring in four of their last five games, with the Dragoes leading by half time in four of the five matches in November.
Correct score prediction: Porto 3-0 Estoril
Fresh off the back of a comfortable midweek victory in the Europa League, Porto will head into Sunday’s tie in sky-high spirits as they look to pull clear at the top of the Primeira Liga table.
The Dragoes go up against a deflated Estoril side, who are still licking their wounds from their cup exit, and we fancy them to come away with all three points unscathed.

Porto preview: Out to tighten hold on top spot in the league
Porto turned in another dominant team display in midweek when they cruised to a 3-0 victory over French outfit Nice in the Europa League.
In a one-sided affair at the Estadio do Dragao, a first-half brace from Gabri Viega and Samu Aghehowa’s 61st-minute penalty condemned Nice to a fifth straight defeat and fired Porto into eighth place in the table.
Since their 2-0 defeat against Nottingham Forest in the Europa League on October 23, Porto have now gone unbeaten in six straight matches, claiming one draw and five victories, including a 3-0 win over Sintrense in the Taca de Portugal fourth round.
Francesco Farioli’s men now turn their focus to the Primeira Liga, where they have flown out of the blocks this season and are one of just two unbeaten sides, having picked up 10 wins and one draw from their 11 matches to sit three points clear at the top of the table.
Porto’s dominant start to the campaign has been owing to the solid job done at both ends of the pitch, as the Dragoes have conceded just three goals so far — two fewer than any other side in the division — and boast the second-best attacking record, with 24 goals scored already.
Predicted lineup: Costa (GK), Costa, Rosario, Kiwior, Moura, Froholdt, Varela, Mora, Gomes, Aghehowa & Pepe
Last five games
- Porto 3-0 Nice
- Porto 3-0 Sintrense
- Famalicao 0-1 Porto
- Utrecht 1-1 Porto
- Porto 2-1 Braga
Estoril preview: Looking to bounce back and strengthen position in the top half of the table
Estoril’s Taca de Portugal journey came to an end last Saturday as they fell to a 2-1 defeat against Famalicao when the two sides squared off at the Estadio Antonio Coimbra da Mota.
Head coach Ian Cathro will hope his side can quickly move on from their disappointing cup result as they turn their full focus to the Primeira Liga, where they are on a resurgent spell, picking up two wins and two draws, having kicked off the campaign with just one win from the first seven matches.
Key to Estoril’s upturn in form in the league has been their improvement in front of goal, as the Canarinhos have netted 11 goals in their last four games, eight more than their total tally from the first seven matches.
This fine run of results has seen Cathro’s side surge into ninth place in the Primeira Liga standings with 13 points from their 11 games so far, four points clear of the danger zone.
However, next up for Estoril is the challenge against an opposing side who are unbeaten in 16 of their most recent 20 encounters, claiming 14 wins and two draws since February 2014.
Predicted lineup: Robles (GK), Tsoungui, Boma, Bacher, Carvalho, Holsgrove, Lominadze, Costa, Carvalho, Lacximicant, Begraoui
Last five games
- Estoril 1-2 Famalicao
- Estoril 4-3 Arouca
- Rio Ave 0-4 Estoril
- Estoril 1-1 Nacional
- Belenenses 1-2 Estoril
Player to watch — Samu Aghehowa

Samu Aghehowa’s penalty against Nice in midweek brought his four-game goal drought to an end, offering a much-needed confidence boost to the Spanish international.
Aghehowa is the Dragoes’ leading scorer in the Primeira Liga this term, having netted six goals in 10 Primeira Liga matches, and the 21-year-old will be one to keep an eye on this weekend.
We expect Aghehowa to spearhead Porto’s attack once again, teaming up with William Gomes and Brazilian forward Pepe, who has two goals and two assists under his belt in the league.
