We're bringing you our Portugal League predictions for the big game this weekend between Porto and Braga. Both of these teams remain in the title race despite sitting third and fourth in the table. A home win could take Porto to within a point of Benfica this weekend but defeat would see Braga move above them.

Porto vs Braga prediction – Betting tips & odds

Hot Tip – Both Teams to Score

  • Both teams have scored in three of Porto's last six matches in all competitions.
  • Each of Braga's last four fixtures have ended with both teams scoring.

Another reason that we have backed BTTS as our main prediction for this game is that Porto have only kept two clean sheets in their last six attempts.

Porto vs Braga team news

Porto

Porto will have been disappointed to only come away with a point from their last league game away at Boavista, especially as the home side ended the game with ten men. Things started brightly for Porto who took the lead through Toni Martinez in the twenty-third minute. However, Boavista equalised soon after and even when the home side were reduced to ten men in the eighty-eighth minute, Porto failed to capitalise in the time remaining.

Ivan Marcano and Gabriel Veron are injury concerns while Mehdi Taremi is on international duty. Porto's Zaidu Sanusi is at AFCON 2023 with Nigeria, who are tipped to fly out of Group A and deep into the knockout round.

Predicted Lineup: Costa (GK), Pepe, Wendell, Cardoso, Mário, Grujić, Eustáquio, Franco, Martínez & Aquino & Evanilson

Braga

Braga let slip their narrow lead late on at home to Vitoria Guimaraes and had to settle for a share of the spoils. Vitor Carvalho fired Braga in front in the fifty-third minute but deep into stoppage time, Guimaraes produced one final attack and managed to equalise much to the dismay of the home fans.

Sikou Niakaté and Simon Banza won't be available for selection this weekend as they are on international duty.

Predicted Lineup: Matheus (GK), Fonte, Borja, Gómez, Saatçı, Moutinho, Carvalho, Zalazar, Lopes, Horta & Ruiz

Player to Watch: Toni Martinez

Toni Martinez scored in Porto's last league game and the Spaniard is likely to get another chance to impress on Sunday with Taremi away on international duty.

Martinez has never been more than a bit part player during his time with Porto, making ten starts last season in the Primeira Liga. However, the striker always chips in with goals now and then, including three in five starts this season.

In what we are expecting to be a tight game, Martinez might well end up being the match-winner as Braga are without their top goalscorer Simon Banza.
