Partizan vs Hibernian prediction: Hosts to secure an advantage

Key stats

  • Hibernian have only won once in their last five games, which includes a couple of pre-season friendlies.
  • Partizan have gone under 2.5 total goals in four of the six matches they played since the start of the season.
  • Hibs have gone under 2.5 total goals twice in their last three games.

Correct score prediction: Partizan 2-0 Hibernian

Partizan as a club went through many changes lately and, as a result, they are fielding a very young team, with a lot of the players promoted from their academy.

Luckily for them, their young players are very good and they should be able to do well against Hibernian, who enter this game with just one win in their previous three matches.

Most recent H2Hs: First time to meet on Thursday

This will be the first-ever meeting between Partizan Belgrade and Hibernian.

Meanwhile, Partizan have played Scottish teams three times before, notching one win and two losses. On the other hand, Hibernian have played teams from Serbia twice and lost both games, although that was back in the 1960s against Red Star Belgrade.

Partizan preview: Hoping to continue their winning streak

Despite some struggles, like in their last game against Napredak in which they needed a stoppage-time game-winner to get the three points in their domestic championship, Partizan Belgrade have been in good form and they are on a five-game winning streak. That is, if we include their win over AEK Larnaca, which was the second leg of their tie in which Partizan were eliminated on penalties despite winning the match.

When it comes to team news, Arandjel Stojkovic has to miss this match after being sent off in the last game, while Mario Jurcevic is questionable with an injury.

Predicted lineup: M. Milosevic (GK), Roganovic, Simic, Djurdevic, Milic, Dragojevic, Ugresic, Karabelyov, Kostic, J. Milosevic & Trifunovic

Hibernian preview: Looking for a positive result to take to Scotland

While Hibernian have put up a good fight against Midtjylland in the Europa League qualifiers, they have been eliminated in the end after extra time in the second leg in Scotland, when they conceded a goal a few minutes before a penalty shootout. Hibs did win over the weekend in their opening game of the Scottish Premiership against Dundee FC, so they'll be in a good mood as they travel to Belgrade.

Meanwhile, Joe Newell remains sidelined with an injury.

Predicted lineup: Smith (GK), O'Hora, Kiranga, Iredale, Cadden, Mulligan, Levitt, Obita, Boyle, McGrath & Bowie

Player to watch: Jovan Milosevic

The 20-year-old forward on loan from Stuttgart will have plenty of chances to show his worth this season at Partizan and while Milosevic only managed to score in one of seven games that the Belgrade team played so far, he did score a hat-trick. This happened in the second leg against FC Oleksandriya, so Milosevic will be hoping to add to his European goalscoring tally against Hibernian as well.
