Stoke to win

Stoke have won their last two away matches in all competitions.

Oxford Utd will welcome Stoke to the Kassam Stadium on Saturday, 14 September for a match between two teams who went into the international break on the back of victories.

Both clubs currently sit on six points after four matches with two wins and two losses apiece but they should be separated by the end of this one unless they both experience their first draws of the season.

As part of our latest round of Championship betting tips, check out our Oxford Utd vs Stoke prediction below.

Oxford Utd vs Stoke prediction: Stoke win on the road yet again

Key Stats

  • Stoke have won three of the four away matches they've played this season across the Championship and the EFL Cup.
  • Oxford Utd have scored at least one goal in every home match they've played this season.
  • Stoke have scored at least one goal in five of the six matches they've played this season.

Correct score prediction: Oxford Utd 1-2 Stoke

Oxford have been brilliant at home so far this season but they are facing a Stoke team this weekend that look more comfortable on the road than they do at the Bet365 Stadium. The Potters beat Plymouth and Middlesbrough away by a combined score of 6-0 before the international break and look like early dark horses for promotion.

Pre-game odds and win probability: Stoke edge the odds

  • HOME: 2/1 (3.00) – 33.3%
  • DRAW: 12/5 (3.40) – 29.4%
  • AWAY: 13/10 (2.30) – 43.5%

*odds from Ladbrokes, subject to change

Stoke are the narrow favourites for this one but the bookies aren't ruling out a win for Oxford Utd and rightly so considering they have won three out of three home matches this season. Ladbroke have priced a home win at 2/1 while a win for Stoke has been priced at 13/10. The draw, which wouldn't be the worst outcome for either side, has been priced at 12/5.

Most recent H2Hs: A first match in 23 years

This will be the first time that Oxford Utd and Stoke have met since 2001 thanks in large to Oxford's 25-year exile from the Championship. The last encounter between the two clubs finished in a 1-1 draw in a match that was played in the third flight of English football.

Oxford Utd preview: Enjoying life in the Championship

It's been a long time coming for Oxford United to be in the Championship but after a promising start to the season, they may even now be dreaming of another promotion to the Premier League. Their home form has been very impressive and will get the chance to build on that on Saturday.
