Olympiacos to win

Olympiacos haven't lost a match at home in any competition all sason.

Olympiacos will take on FC Twente in the Europa League on Thursday, 12 December with the visitors still without a win in this season's competition.

The Dutch side have picked up just three points from their opening five Europa League fixtures and are in need of a victory to keep their hopes of qualifying for the knockout stages alive.

The hosts, meanwhile, are going along nicely and are currently comfortably inside the top 24. A win here would put them in contention for a top-eight finish.

As part of this week's round of Europa League betting tips, here is our Olympiacos vs FC Twente prediction.

Olympiacos vs FC Twente prediction: The hosts to pick up another win

Key stats

  • Olympiacos haven't lost any of their last nine matches in all competitions.
  • FC Twente have lost two of their last three matches in all competitions.
  • Both teams have scored in both of FC Twente's two previous Europa League matches this season.

Correct score prediction: Olympiacos 2-1 FC Twente

Olympiacos have proved a hard team to beat both in Europe and domestically so far this season and in front of home their supporters, anything other than a victory would be a shock. FC Twente are no mugs, though, and they managed to score at Old Trafford earlier in the competition so have every chance of putting up a fight.

Pre-game odds and win probability: The hosts go in as favourites

  • HOME: 4/5 (1.80) – 55.6%
  • DRAW: 11/4 (3.75) – 26.7%
  • AWAY: 16/5 (4.20) – 23.8%

*odds from Ladbrokes, subject to change

The Olympiacos vs FC Twente odds are perhaps a little closer than you would expect given the visitors are winless so far in the competition. Their need to win, however, has likely boosted their odds. Ladbrokes have given Olympiacos a 55.6% chance of winning the match on Thursday while FC Twente have been given a 23.8% chance of victory.

Most recent H2Hs: A first competitive meeting

This will be the first time that Olympiacos and FC Twente have ever met in a competitive fixture so neither team will know too much about the other. They have previously met in a pre-season friendly, though, with Olympiacos running out as 2-1 winners in the summer of 2015.

Olympiacos preview: Looking for more history

This current group of Olympiacos players made history last season when they won the club's first-ever European trophy when they lifted the Europa Conference League. Going one better this year and lifting the Europa League would make this group even more iconic than they already are.

Predicted lineup: Tzolakis (GK), Costinha, Restos, Pirola, Ortega, Mouzakitis, Willian, Garcia, Kostoulas, Masouras, El Kaabi

FC Twente preview: Do or die

With just three games left to play in the league phase, FC Twente likely need to win two matches if they are to give themselves a chance of qualifying for the knockout stages of the tournament. Getting one of those wins on Thursday night would relieve a lot of pressure ahead of their final two fixtures.

Predicted lineup: Tyton (GK), Regeer, Hilgers, Van Hoorenbeeck, Salah-Eddine, Besselink, Rots, Vlap, Steijn, Van Bergen, Lammers

Player to watch: Ayoub El Kaabi

Ayoub El Kaabi

Ayoub El Kaabi had a brilliant debut campaign for Olympiacos last season, scoring 33 goals in all competitions for the Greek giants. Incredibly, 16 of those goals came in Europe where the Moroccan forward excelled. He has picked up where he left off this time around and has already scored for Europa League goals this season.
