Authenticity (2.5/5): Everton interested in the summer
Everton are still interested in Olympique Lyonnais right-winger Ernest Nuamah, a player they were monitoring in the summer.
This news comes from French transfer website footmercato.net, who don't provide any real source information, but name Fulham and Crystal Palace as other potential January destinations.
Value (4/5): Lyon willing to sell
Lyon's financial situation gives them little choice but to move some of their better players on, and the 21-year-old could be available for around his £12.3 million valuation.
In fact, a deal was agreed in the summer to sell Nuamah to Fulham, but he pleaded with the Lyon owner to allow him to stay! The French side might not be able to be so charitable this time, and Everton could have a bargain on their hands.
Suitability (2.5/5): A step up required
The former Molenbeek and Nordsjaelland man is not the most experienced at 21-years-old, thus the Premier League will be a step up for him.
But the right-winger, who can also play on the left and at centre-forward, will be able to boost Sean Dyche's attack at various positions in his 4-2-3-1 formation.
Upgrade? (2.5/5): Everton need more creativity
Everton's right wing position has been filled by either Jack Harrison or Jesper Lindstrom this season, neither of whom have contributed a goal or assist this season as the Toffees – with the exception of their 4-0 drubbing of Wolves at the weekend – have struggled for goals.
In 13 appearances in all competitions this season, more than half of which have come off the bench, Nuamah has zero goals and one assist. Not exactly a vast improvement.
Logic (1.5/5): Only Lyon benefit
Nuamah's plea to stay at Lyon in the summer suggests he still might not want a move away, while Everton will be getting another player who seldom contributes in a position they already have cover. A sale will help Lyon's budget issues, but only marginally.
Whisper+ verdict: 13/25
Everton's prior interest gives this rumour some credibility, but with Nuamah's difficult season and desire to stay in France, it would not be surprising if the Toffees have moved onto other targets.
