Nottingham Forest vs Notts County Lineups, Match Preview, and Team Information
Nottingham Forest
This is the first friendly match this summer for Nottingham Forest who are looking forward to playing in their second straight Premier League season after living on the brink of relegation for much of last year. They were one of the biggest spenders of last season's summer transfer period, but it seems they've learned from their mistakes as the approach this time around is a bit different. Chris Wood is the only player that arrived at the moment, he transferred from Newcastle. There were multiple players whose contracts expired and weren't renewed, Jesse Lingard, Andre Ayew, Jack Colback, and Cafu to name a few. Giulian Biancone is injured and won't be available for this match.
Probable lineup: Horvath, Niakhate, Worrall, Richards, Williams, Kouyate, Shelvey, Johnson, Scarpa, Awoniyi, Wood.
Notts County
The League Two outfit will try to, at least, remain in the EFL for another season as they are playing in a league where its ‘stay or bust' mentality. But, Notts County supporters are used to that circumstances. The club already played two friendly matches, they started their preparation period earlier than the opponent they are facing this time around as Notts County's season will start a bit earlier. The team lost to Stoke and defeated Nuneaton. Dan Crowley, David McGoldrick, Aidan Stone, Jodine Jones, and Will Randall are some of the new players that have arrived at the club while players like Kairo Mitchell, Ed Francis, and Ruben Rodrigues left when their contracts expired.
Probable lineup: Stone, Mahovo, Cameron, Chicksen, Brindley, O'Brien, Palmer, Crowley, Austin, McGoldrick, Scott.
Player to Watch: Chris Wood
The New Zealand international striker has had plenty of experience playing in the Premier League. It has been 14 years since he left his native country and moved to England where he stayed until this day. Wood played for multiple teams during his tenure in the country including West Brom, Leicester, Leeds, Burnley, and Newcastle. He was most efficient while playing for Burnley where he scored 53 goals in 165 appearances.
He didn't produce as much for Newcastle getting on the scoresheet five times in 39 matches. But, Nottingham Forest brass believes he still has a lot to give and will be looking forward to seeing him play. Wood's New Zealand stats are impressive though, he scored 33 goals in 70 caps for his national team.
