Authenticity (3/5): Forest eye Svensson swoop
Nottingham Forest are reportedly interested in signing Nordsjaelland left-back Daniel Svensson, who is on loan at Borussia Dortmund until the end of the season.
That is according to Fotbolldirekt, who state that Forest are yet to ‘present anything concrete' despite entering the race for the defender.
Value (2/5): Dortmund have buy clause
Forest's hopes of landing Svensson rest on whether Dortmund sign Svensson on a permanent deal. There is a belief that Dortmund will have to sign Svensson on a permanent deal if he makes a total of 15 appearances.
Svensson has so far featured in 12 games for the German club, with four matches left to play in the Bundesliga season. Nordsjaelland wanted £7m for the 23-year-old in the winter transfer window, but he could be available for just over £5m, giving Forest an idea of what they may have to pay if he becomes available this summer.
Suitability (3.5/5): Versatile option
Svensson has played either as a left full-back or wing-back since he joined Dortmund on loan in January. However, he has also previously played as a central midfielder in his career and can also operate on the right flank when required, demonstrating the versatility he can bring to any team.
Upgrade? (3/5): Williams competition
Neco Williams has often been utilised as Nuno Espirito Santo's primary left-back this season, but the Forest boss could be on the lookout for a player to provide the Welshman with competition, especially as two of his other left-sided defenders could leave this summer.
Harry Toffolo is out of contract at the end of the season, while Alex Moreno is set to return to Aston Villa at the end of his loan spell.
Logic (3/5): Potential Champions League club
If Svensson does not join Dortmund on a permament transfer, he could be open to the prospect of signing for Forest, especially if they are successful in their bid to secure Champions League qualification, via a top-five finish in the Premier League.
Whisper+ verdict: 14.5/25
Svensson could be a good signing for Forest, but any potential move rests on whether he signs for Dortmund following his loan spell.
