FT Draw

Norwich have turned a corner in recent weeks, and given their fine form on home turf, we are backing them to hold out for a share of the spoils against a Watford side, who are unbeaten in their last five games.

In their second meeting within the space of three weeks, Norwich City and Watford lock horns at the Carrow Road Stadium in round 24 of the Championship on Monday. While the Canaries will be looking to climb out of the bottom three, Watford could move level with third-placed Ipswich Town with a win here.

FootballWhispers’ Norwich City vs Watford prediction takes a look at the chances of both sides coming away with the desired result at Carrow Road.

Norwich preview: A fourth straight home win in sight

Norwich made it a cheerful Christmas season for their fans as they secured a 1-0 victory over Charlton Athletic when the two sides squared off at the Carrow Road Stadium on Boxing Day.

Following a goalless first half, Jovon Makama delivered the goods once again as he netted shortly after the hour mark to hand the home side a deserved victory.

With that result, Norwich have now gone four consecutive matches without defeat, picking up two wins and two draws, having failed to win 14 of the 15 games preceding this run.

This turnaround has been owing to their fine run of results on home turf, where Philippe Clement’s men have picked up three wins from their most recent three games since a 1-1 draw against Oxford United on November 25.

Norwich have picked up 21 points from their 23 Championship matches to sit 23rd in the league standings, but they could rise out of the relegation zone and into 21st place with all three points on Monday.

Predicted lineup: Kovacevic (GK), Fisher, McConville, Darling, Chrisene, McLean, Mattsson, Slimane, Jurasek, Schwartau, Makama

Last five games

  • Norwich 1-0 Charlton Athletic
  • Preston 1-1 Norwich
  • Norwich 2-1 Southampton
  • Sheffield United 1-1 Norwich
  • Watford 3-2 Norwich

Watford preview: Pursuing playoff qualification

Watford maintained their fine run of results on Boxing Day when they fought back from behind to secure a 2-1 victory over Leicester City at the King Power Stadium.

Jordan James opened the scoring in the seventh minute to put the Foxes in front, but Othmane Maamma and Matthew Pollock hit back for the Hornets to turn the game on its head.

Watford have now gone five straight games without defeat, picking up three wins and two draws, and have lost just one of their last 11 outings since the start of November (5W 5D).

This impressive run has seen Javi Gracia’s men surge into eighth place in the Championship table, level on 35 points with ninth-placed Queens Park Rangers and one point off the coveted top-six places.

Predicted lineup: Selvik (GK), Ngakia, Pollock, Alleyne, Bola, Ince, Kyprianou, Louza, Maamma, Chakvetadze, Kjerrumgaard

Last five games

  • Leicester 1-2 Watford
  • Watford 1-0 Stoke
  • Wrexham 2-2 Watford
  • Watford 1-1 Sheffield United
  • Watford 3-2 Norwich

Makama has been on song for Norwich City, playing a pivotal role in their recent upturn in form, and the 21-year-old striker will be one to keep an eye on.

With his winner against Charlton, the English striker now has four goals in the last three games and has taken his total tally to eight in the Championship this season.

Makama has started 12 of Norwich’s 23 league games since his summer move from Lincoln and should spearhead the attack on Monday, alongside Matej Jurasek and teenage attacker Oscar Schwartau.
