We saw three or more goals in two of the previous three meetings between Montserrat and Belize.

Montserrat and Belize are scheduled to meet on Wednesday, 4 June, in the third round of the CONCACAF World Cup qualifiers.

Both teams enter this game after losing their first two, so will we see one of them notch their first victory in these qualifiers? Read our Montserrat vs Belize prediction and preview to find out.

Montserrat vs Belize prediction: A close contest

Key stats

  • Both teams have gone over 2.5 total goals in both of their matches in these WC qualifiers.
  • Montserrat have gone over 2.5 total goals in six of their last 10 games, while Belize have done it in seven of their last 10 matches.
  • While both teams have lost in the first two rounds of the qualifiers, Montserrat had some nice victories fairly recently, beatin  teams like Barbados and Dominican Republic at home.

Correct score prediction: Montserrat 2-1 Belize

This is a duel between two teams of similar quality, so it should be fairly close. That being said, Montserrat will host the game and we feel that can be enough for them to notch a narrow win.

Most recent H2Hs: Small advantage for Belize

These two teams had last met in 2018 when Monserrat secured a minimal win. They also met twice before, both times in 2011, with Belize winning both of those matches.

Montserrat preview: Looking for their first points of the qualifiers

With a couple of losses to Nicaragua and Panama, Montserrat have started these WC qualifiers as expected. They are one of the weakest teams in their group and any points they win will be celebrated. Perhaps one of the best opportunities for a win comes in their next game when they will host Belize, another team that's bound to struggle in the qualifiers.

Predicted lineup: Carter-Rodgers (GK), Kirnon, Gordon, Comley, Meade, Barzey, A. Dyer, Richmond, Benjamin, Boatswain & J. Dyer

Belize preview: Hoping for a good showing on Wednesday

Just like their next opponent, Belize also started the qualifiers with a couple of losses, against Guyana and Nicaragua. While Belize have been in solid form earlier in the CONCACAF Nations League, where they won five games in a row, it was against much weaker competition. All in all, Belize are bound to finish their WC journey in this round of the qualifiers, but they certainly hope to win some points along the way.

Player to watch: Ashley Boatswain

While the young forward has yet to play for Ipswich Town, Boatswain is the member of the team and at 19 years of age, he might still get a chance to play for the Tractor Boys.

When it comes to his performances in the Montserrat national team, he has so far recorded six appearances and notched one goal.
