Monaco’s five-game unbeaten streak across all competitions came to a halt at Stade de la Meinau, as Strasbourg held them to a 1-1 draw.
That also includes a three-game undefeated run in the league, with the Monegasques beating the likes of PSG and Monaco along the way.
Lens will look to dent Filipe Luis’ stunning start to his Monaco tenure, with the visitors beating the hosts 4-1 here last season.
Folarin Balogun and Ansu Fati are both nearing a return from knee and calf issues respectively, and could find themselves included in the matchday squad. Takumi Minamino, Jordan Teze and Mamadou Coulibaly are all sidelined with muscle injuries.
Lens also have a huge injury list to deal with, with Samson Baidoo, Yacine Titraoui, Jonathan Gradit, Jhoanner Chavez and Maik Nawrocki all set to miss this clash.
The Blood and Gold sit 10th after four rounds, losing twice already this season and winless in three straight Ligue 1 games. Their 5-2 win over Auxerre on the opening day remains their only league win so far.
Most recently, they were held to a 2-2 draw by newly-promoted Le Mans, days after stealing three Champions League points from under Slavia Praha’s noses with a 3-2 league phase win.
After just six games in charge, Dino Toppmoller, who succeeded Pierre Sage in the summer, is under fire. A positive league result is the need of the hour if he is set to continue with the Lensois.
