Metz’s relegation to Ligue 2 was confirmed last week, as Monaco beat them 2-1 to inflict a 20th winless match on the run.
Benoit Tavenot’s side are by far the worst performing team in Ligue 1, losing 22 of their 32 games, while conceding 72 goals in the process.
They will join the list of unwanted history-makers in Ligue 1 with another winless outing, matching the all-time record of 21 successive winless games held by Troyes and Angers in 2022/23.
Joseph Mangondo, Alpha Toure and Boubacar Toure are three players confirmed absent for Metz.
Lorient also have three men sidelined: Bandiougou Fadiga, Theo Le Bris and Abdoul Meite.
The Merlus are already safe in ninth position and have little to play for but bragging rights. A top-half Ligue 1 finish is what the club is currently aiming for.
The visitors put up a fight against league leaders Paris Saint-Germain last time out, salvaging a 2-2 draw thanks to substitute Aiyegun Tosin’s late strike.

Whispers Predicts: Metz 1-2 Lorient
At 3/5, it is worth backing Both teams to Score – Yes. Lorient have failed to keep a clean sheet in each of their last six away fixtures (D3, L3), while Metz’s last four competitive matches saw no clean sheets.
Metz were level at half-time in four of their last five home games. But only three teams have led more Ligue 1 games at half-time than Lorient this season (HT: W13, D12, L7). Lorient to win first-half at 13/8 offers valuable returns.
Pablo Pagis is Lorient’s main man upfront, with seven goal contributions (G4, A3) in his last eight league appearances. Backing him to score or assist anytime at 17/10 is a shot worth the effort.
Over 2.5 total goals at 4/6 makes sense as well, given six of their last seven meetings at Stade Saint-Symphorien have crossed the mark. Metz’s last four, and Lorient’s last two games, have also gone over 2.5.
> Both teams to Score – Yes at 3/5 | Likelihood: Probable
> Lorient to win first-half at 13/8 | Likelihood: Very Likely
> Pablo Pagis to score or assist anytime at 17/10 | Likelihood: Likely
> Over 2.5 total goals at 4/6 | Likelihood: Possible
