Atalanta and Marseille will go head to head on Thursday, 9 May for a place in the 2024 Europa League final.

The tie is on a knife edge after a 1-1 draw in France last week, which means we have a winner-takes-all- situation at the Gewiss Stadium on Thursday night. Both teams will be feeling confident after fantastic European campaigns, but only one can prevail.

The Atalanta vs Marseille odds indicate that the home side should come out on top on Thursday night and make the 22nd May final in Dublin.

Atalanta put the rest of the tournament on red alert when they beat Liverpool 3-0 at Anfield last month, en-route to a 3-1 aggregate win, and they would consider it a bitter disappointment to get knocked out in the next round.

Gasperini's men could suffer from the fact they are still competing domestically, as they are in hot pursuit of Bologna in the race for the top four in Serie A.

Due to Italy's superb UEFA coefficient, 5th place should also be enough to qualify for next season's newly-expanded Champions League. Atalanta lead sixth-placed Roma purely on goal difference as things stand, however.

Last five H2Hs: Second time's a charm

The match between Atalanta and Marseille on Thursday will be just the second-ever meeting between the two clubs. The first, the first leg of this semi-final, finished 1-1 last week in a match that did little to inspire the neutral. This one should produce more fireworks.

Atalanta preview: Looking to create history

A win on Thursday would put Atalanta in a European final for the first time in the club's history but they will have to do it without some key players. Kolasinac, Holm and Toloi will all miss this match, however, in better news, Isak Hien will return after serving a suspension in the first leg.

Predicted lineup: Carnesecchi (GK), Djimsiti, Hien, Scalvini, Zappacosta, De Roon, Ruggeri, Ederson, Koopmeiners, De Ketelaere, Scamacca

Marseille preview: Saving a subpar season

Marseille have only the Europa League to target after a miserable campaign. That makes them dangerous opponents on Thursday night, especially with this season's top scorer in the Europa League, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, spearheading their attack.

As it stands, Marseille are set to finish 9th in Ligue 1 and unless they win this competition they won't be playing in Europe next year. If they are to win on Thursday, they will do so without the injured pair, Meite and Rongier, which can only put additional pressure on Aubameyang.

Predicted lineup: Lopez (GK), Mbemba, Gigot, Balerdi, Clauss, Veretout, Harit, Kondogbia, Henrique, Moumbagna, Aubameyang

Player to watch: Gianluca Scamacca

Gianluca Scamacca

Former West Ham striker, Gianluca Scamacca, has been reborn in Atalanta and is thriving in Gian Piero Gasperini's system. The 25-year-old has scored seven goals in his last seven appearances for the club and has five goals in the Europa League knockout stages so far.

The man Marseille need to stop

If Marseille can keep Scamacca out of the game, then they have a chance of producing a shock win and reaching the final. He has proven he is a big game player this season, though, so that will be easier said than done.
