An important revelation has just taken place in Jadon Sancho's contract, who is currently on loan at Aston Villa from Manchester United.

This summer, at the very end of the summer transfer window, Sancho left Manchester United for Aston Villa as part of a free season-long loan, without a purchase option. This was not at all the initial plan of the two parties before the start of the transfer window since a permanent departure was hoped for.

Manchester United have an option to extend Sancho

Indeed, the England international has entered his final year of contract and could thus leave the Red Devils freely at the end of the season, after arriving during summer 2021 for €85m (£73m) from Borussia Dortmund. However, in this matter, the Manchester Evening News have just made an important revelation.

According to the British media, Manchester United actually have an option to extend Sancho's contract for an additional season. The Red Devils will thus have to choose between two options before the end of the season: extend Sancho to hope to obtain a fee for his departure or accept a free departure this summer to be sure of saving his salary.

Unai Emery satisfied with Sancho at Aston Villa

To choose the right option, the Premier League giant will closely observe the former Chelsea player's performances this season at Aston Villa. For the moment, he has only played five matches, including two as a starter, and has not yet shown himself decisive, but Emery seems satisfied with his impact, notably on Sunday against Manchester City (1-0).

“He played 45 minutes, I am very happy because he had a good impact, he brought his energy, his talent, but to play longer, he is not yet ready to play 90 minutes. Forty-five minutes is not easy for him, but I am happy and, of course, he is progressing better and better,” indicated the Spanish manager.
