During the winter transfer window, Manchester United were offered the chance to sign a former Chelsea player. Another midfielder has also caught their attention.
After strengthening their attack and signing a new goalkeeper in the summer of 2025, Manchester United are planning to bolster both their defence and attack in the 2026 transfer market. With uncertainty surrounding the identity of the Red Devils’ future permanent head coach, most movement is expected next summer, although some deals could be wrapped up as early as this winter.
The English club remain particularly active in their search for a new midfielder. The likes of Elliot Anderson, Carlos Baleba, Joao Gomes and Barcelona midfielder Marc Casado have all been linked with a move to Old Trafford. In this context, TalkSport have now revealed two new targets for Manchester United.
Loftus-Cheek keen to leave AC Milan and return to the Premier League
According to the British outlet, Manchester United have been offered the opportunity to sign former Chelsea midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek. The 29-year-old England international has lost his place as a regular starter at AC Milan and is therefore looking for a new challenge in order to regain an important role.

Loftus-Cheek, who would be open to a return to the Premier League, has thus been proposed to the Manchester club, who are considering signing a midfielder on loan until the end of the season to boost their chances of qualifying for European competition next year. A win-win deal could therefore be on the cards.
Wilfred Ndidi, Manchester United’s other midfield option
However, TalkSport report that discussions are still at a preliminary stage in this case. The former Chelsea player, who has also featured for Crystal Palace and Fulham, could bring valuable experience and strong Premier League know-how, while hoping to impress during the second half of the season in order to secure a place at the 2026 World Cup with the Three Lions.
He returned to the England squad last October in a friendly match against Wales (3-0). It is also worth noting that, according to the same source, Manchester United have another option to reinforce their midfield: Wilfred Ndidi. The current Besiktas player, who previously spent several years at Leicester City, is considering a return to the Premier League for both footballing and family reasons.
