A Manchester United summer recruit, who has not yet found his place, should leave the Red Devils on loan during the next transfer window.

During the last summer transfer window, Manchester United mainly strengthened their attacking sector by signing Bryan Mbeumo, Benjamin Sesko and Matheus Cunha. But the Red Devils also signed goalkeeper Senne Lammens for €21m (£18) and young left-back Diego Leon for €4m (£3.4m).

The latter is often forgotten when discussing last summer's Mancunian business. The 18-year-old Paraguayan player is indeed unknown to the general public and arrived from his native country. He is, unsurprisingly, not yet ready for the Premier League. The Paraguay international (one cap) thus alternates between the first team and the Mancunian club's Under-21s.

Diego Leon heading for loan departure from Manchester United in winter window

At the start of this season, Diego Leon has made four matchday squads with the Red Devils without coming on, and has had to settle for minutes with the Under-21s with whom he has played five matches for one goal scored. Inevitably, this situation does not please the main party nor Manchester United, who are not seeing their recruit progress.

Thus, according to journalist Uriel Lugt, the young left-back has a chance of being loaned out by the Mancunian club during the next winter transfer window. Diego Leon is open to a temporary departure from the English giants to obtain more playing time at another club.

OGC Nice the favourite to welcome him?

For their part, Manchester United would have no objection to this move, despite Noussair Mazraoui's departure to AFCON at the end of the year. It should be noted that Paraguayan outlet Pasion Estudio indicated that OGC Nice, who are also controlled by INEOS, was the most likely destination for the Mancunian.

With the Aiglons, Leon would compete with Ali Abdi and Melvin Bard at left-back. The Frenchman, who has notably worn the captain's armband on numerous occasions this season, seems to be an important starter for Franck Haise.
