Bruno Fernandes was recently announced on a European heavyweight's radar, but this would ultimately not be the case, according to a new report.

Arrived in January 2020 at Manchester United from Sporting Portugal for £55.6m, Bruno Fernandes quickly established himself as a key player for the Red Devils. Effective and consistent in midfield, the 31-year-old Portuguese is even the Manchester side's captain.

Bayern Munich interested in Bruno Fernandes?

However, Manchester United have not been doing well in recent seasons and Bruno Fernandes is regularly in departure rumours. Under contract until June 2027, a departure during summer 2026 could be the ideal moment for the Portugal international, who is notably targeted by Saudi clubs.

It should be noted that a target also recently opened for him in Europe with Bayern Munich, according to TeamTalk. The Maia native's position on this possibility has never been known, but this possible rebound is very interesting on the sporting level with a Munich side who have won all their matches this season.

Bayern Munich awaiting Jamal Musiala's return

However, this target would ultimately not be current, according to Christian Falk. This journalist specialising in Bayern Munich states that the German giant do not really have Bruno Fernandes in their sights and have other priorities on the transfer market. Indeed, Vincent Kompany's attacking sector is already effective, whilst Jamal Musiala's return is hoped for at the end of 2025.

Moreover, Bayern Munich have carried out a reduction in their wage bill and cannot “afford to pay at least £17m per year for Fernandes”, indicates the German journalist. A departure towards the Bundesliga leaders is therefore to be forgotten for the Portuguese midfielder, who would be ready to remain at Manchester United on one condition: if the Red Devils play in the Champions League next year.
