German midfielder is target for other giants in the market, whilst Ruben Amorim plans to strengthen lacking position for the Red Devils.
After enduring a period of inconsistency at the start of last season, Casemiro recovered his good form at Manchester United and returned to the Brazil squad. However, as the midfielder is now 33 years old, the Red Devils are assessing the market in search of a backup who can provide rest for the number 18.
According to Sky Sports, Manchester United are one of the clubs interested in signing Kennet Eichhorn from Hertha Berlin. The 16-year-old German has earned his place in this edition of 2.Bundesliga, the German second division, and is a long-standing youth international.
Eichhorn has a contract until mid-2029 and a release clause close to €12m (£10m). However, Hertha expect to receive up to €20m (£17m) for the German midfielder, who is attracting interest from other European giants, according to Bild.
Meet Kennet Eichhorn, Hertha Berlin gem
Born in 2009, Kennet Eichhorn joined Hertha Berlin's under-9 category. Since then, the midfielder has emerged as one of the German club's greatest prospects before being promoted to the professionals in 2025-26.
Due to a high number of injuries, manager Stefan Leitl promoted Kennet to Hertha's first team. In a short time, the German gem not only solved the midfield's emergency problems, but also became a starter.

At a press conference in October, Leitl indicated that the midfielder has become unanimous amongst his starting 11, even with the recovery of older players. Kennet Eichhorn's good performances have led the German manager to build the sector around him.
“Let us put it this way: who will play alongside Kennet Eichhorn in midfield?” said Stefan Leitl before the match against Düsseldorf.
This season, the midfielder has already made 10 appearances for Hertha Berlin, eight as a starter. Germany under-17 captain, Eichhorn has caught the attention of Real Madrid, Barcelona and PSG. In the Bundesliga elite, Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund, RB Leipzig, Eintracht Frankfurt and Bayer Leverkusen are also in the race.
Manchester United face Casemiro contract impasse
A pillar in Ruben Amorim's Manchester United midfield, Casemiro has a deal only until June, however, with a clause for a one-year extension. Yet the Brazil international's permanence at Old Trafford is uncertain.
To keep the Brazilian, the Red Devils are demanding a salary reduction, as he is one of the highest-paid members of the squad, according to ESPN. In recent transfer windows, Casemiro has been approached by Saudi Arabia, but decided to remain at Manchester United.
Whilst Amorim dreams of keeping the Brazilian midfielder, Manchester United are monitoring other names. Besides the 16-year-old German, Joao Gomes from Wolverhampton, Carlos Baleba from Brighton, Conor Gallagher from Atletico Madrid, Elliot Anderson from Nottingham Forest and Adam Wharton from Crystal Palace remain on the Red Devils' radar.
