After losing the Community Shield 3-0 to Arsenal, Enzo Maresca has gone on a six-match winning run.
Considering he is new to the job and the high turnover of players this summer, the Italian has started extremely well.
Man City were lucky to beat Manchester United last weekend though due to Erling Haaland's controversial goal, which ProRef then released a statement claiming it should have been disallowed for an Enzo Fernandez offside.
Phil Foden was also sent off in the derby and remains suspended here, but Jeremy Doku could return from injury.
As for Sunderland, Reinildo is also suspended after getting sent off against Arsenal last weekend, while Omar Alderete is one to watch after limping off in midweek.
Nonetheless, Regis Le Bris will still have a strong squad to choose from, but he knows how tough a test it will be here.
History is not on Sunderland's side either, as they have never beaten Man City away from home in the Premier League in 14 attempts (D2, L12).
The Black Cats are a strong unit though having finished seventh last season, and will not make it easy for the hosts.

Whispers predicts: Man City 3-1 Sunderland
Man City are huge 4/13 (1.31) favourites to win, but while we side with the bookies, we want to explore other bets.
Given Sunderland's scoring run away from home, BTTS – Yes at 21/20 (2.05) offers potential value, while Over 3.5 goals at 6/4 (2.50) would reflect Man City's strong goalscoring form.
Sunderland are the only team Haaland has not scored against in the Premier League, and chasing the Golden Boot again with four goals so far this season, Haaland to score anytime at 4/6 (1.67) us our final pick.
Overall, we are predicting a 3-1 Man City victory, which is available at 11/1 (12.00).
> Haaland to score anytime at 1.67 | Likelihood: High
> BTTS – Yes at 2.05 | Likelihood: Medium
> Over 3.5 goals at 2.50 | Likelihood: Medium
