The contrast between Peter Schmeichel and Massimo Taibi in goal for Man United was truly remarkable.

He only made a handful of appearances for the Red Devils, and is perhaps most known for a horrible mistake he made against Southampton.

RB: Guillermo Varela

Man United have actually had a lot of success with right-backs, but perhaps the worst in the Premier League era was Guillermo Varela.

Still playing incidentally, he was signed as a promising talent by the Red Devils, but never reached the levels required.

RCB: William Prunier

Going back to the 90s, William Prunier was a terrible player in what was otherwise such a successful decade for Man United.

He was prone to so many mistakes, and did not last long at Old Trafford.

LCB: Marcos Rojo

Marcos Rojo showed promise in World Cup 2014 with Argentina, but never lived up to his hype at Man United.

He was often bullied physically and shifted out to left-back, failing to win the Premier League title that many others before him had.

LB: Tyrell Malacia

Another pick that feels a little harsh given Man United's general success in the left-back position, but Tyrell Malacia creeps in here.

He could never establish himself as first-choice for the Red Devils, and recorded no goals or assists on top of 11 yellow cards in 50 appearances.

RM: Antony

Clinching our runner-up spot in Man United's worst Premier League signings of all time, Antony kicks off a disastrous midfield.

Signed for £85m, the Red Devils would have hoped for much more than just 12 goals and five assists in 96 appearances.

RCM: Eric Djemba-Djemba

So good they named him twice? Not quite. Eric Djemba-Djemba, believe it or not, was supposed to be the successor to Roy Keane.

He was nowhere near the Irishman's level, and lasted just two seasons at Man United.

LCM: Kleberson

Partnering Djemba-Djemba is a player that did not perform much better than him in Kleberson.

He was excellent for Brazil in their World Cup 2002 win, but it all went downhill once he joined Man United.

LM: Bebe

Sir Alex Ferguson famously signed Bebe without seeing him play, and it turned out to be a huge mistake.

Man United spent a significant chunk of money on him at the time, only for him to repay them with just two goals in seven appearances.

RS: Dong Fangzhuo

Perhaps trying to bring viewers from Asia over to Man United, Chinese striker Dong Fangzhuo was signed in 2006.

He made just one Premier League appearance for the club and three in total, and you guessed it, did not score.

LS: David Bellion

David Bellion completes this horrific Man United XI from the Premier League era.

The striker scored just eight goals across 40 appearances for the Red Devils, and was just not good enough to play for the club.
