Mainz will have mixed feelings about their 2025-26 campaign, as while they are only five points from retaining their top-flight status, they are certain to finish the season with fewer points than they managed in 2024-25 (52).

The hosts come into the weekend's clash on the back of a 1-1 stalemate with Borussia Monchengladbach on April 19, but they are now winless in three games, a period in which they lost twice.

Urs Fischer may have helped his team draw 2-2 in the reverse fixture against Bayern in December 2025. but his team have still been beaten in seven of their past nine clashes with the Bavarians.

Considering Mainz know that forward Benedict Hollerbach will not play for the club again this season due to injury, the most likely duo to start up front are Sheraldo Becker and Phillip Tietz.

Bayern clinched the Bundesliga title after beating Stuttgart 4-2 on April 19, and they followed that result up with a 2-0 win against Bayer Leverkusen in the semi-final of the DFB-Pokal on Wednesday.

Vincent Kompany's side have already broken the record for most goals scored in a Bundesliga season, and after such an incredible domestic campaign, focus will naturally be on the Champions League.

If the Bavarians are to secure a seventh European Cup, they must navigate a difficult semi-final tie against Paris Saint-Germain, with the first leg set to take place next Tuesday in France.

Perhaps a positive omen for Kompany is the fact that the last time Bayern reached the DFB-Pokal final, they went on to win a treble in 2019-20 under Hansi Flick.

With one eye on the tie with PSG, the Bavarians could look to rest several starters on the weekend, including the likes of Harry Kane and Michael Olise.

Whispers predicts: Mainz 1-3 Bayern Munich

There is little to suggest that Bayern Munich will collapse now that they have won the title, and an away win at 1.67 is the smart choice.

Even if the visitors make changes to their usual starting XI, predicting Over 2.5 Goals for Bayern Munich, priced at 2.38, seems like a value bet given their attacking excellence.

However, Bayern have been vulnerable defensively, so it may make some sense to back Mainz 05 to Score Over 0.5 Goals, a prediction priced at 1.3.

Luis Diaz has been in strong form for the away side, and with the bookmakers offering Luis Diaz to Score Anytime at 2.38, there could be value in that bet.
