Luton Town have the chance to taste glory at Wembley on Sunday afternoon when they meet Stockport County in the EFL Trophy final, a few months after they were reinstated back into the competition.

Swindon Town fielded two ineligible players when they faced the Hatters in January and were therefore kicked out of the cup, allowing Luton a second bite of the cherry that they have taking full advantage of.

After beating Northampton Town 2-1 in the semi-finals at the start of March, Jack Wilshere's side have booked their spot in the final and will be looking to win the EFL Trophy for the second time in their history.

As for Stockport County, they arrive at Wembley Stadium knowing full well they could be returning a few weeks later with their place in League One's playoffs looking likely.

Dave Challinor's side are unbeaten in their last five with three wins and two draws and arrive as finalists in the EFL Trophy after beating Doncaster Rovers 1-0.

Also known as the Hatters, they will be aiming to lift this particular cup for the first time.

With Wilshere's job under pressure throughout the season, a chance to finish in League One's top six is still very much on the cards, with the Bedfordshire side sitting three points adrift of the playoff places.

Despite the noise surrounding him and his future, the former Arsenal midfielder has responded well and comes into his first cup final as a manager with just one loss in their last 10 games in all competitions.

Recent form will also give Luton Town confidence, winning their first meeting of the season against Stockport 3-0, then drawing 1-1 at the start of the year.

As for the side based in Greater Manchester, they sit six points ahead of their upcoming opponents in League One and will be hoping this is a first of two Wembley trips this season.

Although promotion to the second tier will be the priority, they could potentially enter the play-off final with a win at Wembley already under their belts and in great momentum.

In the league, the Hatters are unbeaten in five and have collected 11 points from their last 15 available to them.

Whispers predicts: Luton Town 1-2 Stockport County

Both sides are evenly matched and in the final for good reason, this is a tough one to call but we see Challinor's side edging through on the day and a win for his men is placed at 2/1.

A win for Luton Town comes in at 27/20, making them slight favourites.

We see Stockport County scraping through to their maiden EFL Trophy title with a 2-1 win, which comes in at 10/1.

That particular score also means we see BBTS - Yes occurring, which is at 4/6 and an equally good shout.

Kyle Wootton has 19 goals for Stockport this season, 12 more than their next best, him to score is priced at 15/8 by the bookmakers.
