🔥 Our Hot tip

Los Angeles FC to win

Los Angeles competed well against Chelsea on matchday one and created three big chances to the Blues four, despite their eventual defeat. LAFC should have the edge in terms of quality over ES Tunis here.

Los Angeles FC and ES Tunis lock horns at Geodis Park in Group D of the FIFA Club World Cup on Friday, 20 June. Read our Club World Cup predictions for the contest below.

Los Angeles FC vs ES Tunis prediction: Back LAFC to get off the mark in Nashville

Key Stats

  • Los Angeles FC’s loss on matchday one to Chelsea was their first defeat in 11 competitive matches.
  • ES Tunis had just 31% possession and mustered just six shots in their 2-0 loss to Flamengo on matchday one in Group D.
  • Three of ES Tunis’s last five competitive matches have featured under 2.5 goals.
  • Four ES Tunis players were booked in their 2-0 loss to Flamengo.

Correct score prediction: Los Angeles FC 1-0 ES Tunis

Los Angeles created three big chances against Chelsea on matchday one and were unfortunate not to score, while ES Tunis didn’t create a single big opportunity in a toothless showing against Flamengo. A Los Angeles outfit seem to have more cutting edge and cut pip the Tunisians to the points here.

As expected, LAFC slipped to defeat in their Group D opener against Chelsea, though there were points of promise in their performance despite their loss, so it’s easy to see why they have been priced as 4/5 favourites to beat ES Tunis.

In contrast, ES Tunis didn’t offer much in their 2-0 loss to Flamengo and the Tunisian outfit have been given only a 21.1% chance of bouncing back here. View our free football tips page for more Club World Cup predictions.

Los Angeles FC preview: 4-3-3 shape likely

Head Coach Steve Cherundolo deployed LAFC in a 4-3-3 formation against Chelsea on matchday one and a similar set-up is likely to be used against ES Tunis. Forward Denis Bouanga accounted for three of LAFC's four shots on target in their 2-0 loss to the Blues on Monday.

Predicted lineup: Lloris (GK), Palencia, Long, Segura, Hollingshead, Tillman, Igor, Delgado, Ordaz, Bouanga, Ebobisse

ES Tunis preview: Brazilian could be unchanged

ES Tunis stuck to their tried and trusted 4-2-3-1 shape against Flamengo on Monday and though they were beaten by the Brazilians, Head Coach Maher Kanzari is unlikely to make any tactical shifts here. El Tunis committed a whopping 19 fouls in their loss to Flamengo.

Predicted lineup: Said (GK), Ali, Meriah, Tougai, Ben Hmida, Guenichi, Ogbelu, Sasse, Jbeli, Belaili, Rodrigues

Player to watch – Denis Bouanga

Winger Denis Bouanga provided menace from the left for LAFC in their loss to Chelsea earlier this week and though the Gabon international fluffed some decent chances, he was enough of a nuisance to suggest he could threaten El Tunis.

Can Bouanga get off the mark

Bouanga is Los Angeles FC’s leading marksman in the MLS this season with eight goals, so it’s clear he knows how to finish. The 30-year-old had three shots on target without scoring against Chelsea last time out however, so he will be keen to sharpen up in the final third against ES Tunis.
