Liverpool are continuing to explore options to strengthen their attack this summer, and Malick Fofana has emerged as a serious candidate to join Arne Slot's squad.
According to independent journalist James Williams, the Reds have held discussions with the representatives of the Lyon winger and remain interested in the 19-year-old. With both Darwin Nunez and Luis Diaz having left Anfield in recent weeks, Liverpool are in the market for a versatile forward.
“Liverpool have admired the winger for a long time, and Arne Slot has emphasised how much his side need a versatile forward following the departures of Darwin Nunez and Luis Diaz this summer. Malick (Fofana) is aware of Liverpool’s interest, which is why he is hoping for a move to the Premier League,” said Williams, adding that the club are expected to revisit the deal before the end of the transfer window.

Fofana hoping for Premier League switch amid Everton rejection
Fofana featured for Lyon during their 1-0 defeat to Lens in Ligue 1 over the weekend, but turned down an offer worth over £34m from Everton, with hopes of attracting interest from a bigger club. That club could be Liverpool, who currently have just five senior attacking options available – Hugo Ekitike, Cody Gakpo, Mohamed Salah, Federico Chiesa and Ben Doak.
The addition of Fofana, as well as Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak – who is also being linked – could help ease the financial burden at Lyon. However, from a sporting perspective, losing two key talents would be a major blow for the Ligue 1 side.
