Leeds to keep a clean sheet

Leeds have kept a clean sheet in each of their last three home league matches.

Leeds will take on Newcastle on Saturday, 30 August, as part of the final round of Premier League fixtures before the first international break of the season.

The hosts have had a mixed start to the new season, winning their opening match against Everton before losing 5-0 to Arsenal last weekend.

The visitors, meanwhile, have picked up just one point in the league so far, but were incredibly unfortunate last week against Liverpool.

As part of this week's round of Premier League betting tips, check out our Leeds vs Newcastle prediction below.

Leeds vs Newcastle prediction: Whites to down the Magpies

Key Stats

  • Leeds ended last season with four clean sheets in their final six matches.
  • Newcastle have failed to score away from home so far this season.
  • Fewer than three goals were scored in Leeds' only other home match this season, and Newcastle's only the other away fixture.

Correct score prediction: Leeds 1-0 Newcastle

Although Newcastle have now brought a new striker in, it's unlikely that Nick Woltemade will be ready to start the match on Saturday. Leeds may have been poor against Arsenal, but they are a different entity at Elland Road, and Newcastle will find that out this weekend.

Pre-game odds and win probability: The hosts are the underdogs

  • HOME: 9/4 (3.25) – 30.8%
  • DRAW: 5/2 (3.50) – 28.6%
  • AWAY: 23/20 (2.15) – 46.5%

*odds from Ladbrokes, subject to change

The Leeds vs Newcastle odds suggest that the visitors are more likely to come out on top on Saturday. Ladbrokes have given Leeds a 30.8% chance of winning the match, while Newcastle have been given a 46.5% chance of picking up their first win of the season this weekend.

Leeds preview: A chance for DCL redemption

Dominic Calvert-Lewin had a debut to forget against Sheffield Wednesday in the Carabao Cup, missing three gilt-edge chances in the dying minutes before missing a penalty in the shootout. The former Everton man will be desperate to attone for those mistkaes this weekend. Fellow new signing, Sean Longstaff, could make his first start as Ethan Ampadu is out injured.

Predicted lineup: Perri (GK), Bogle, Rodon, Struijk, Gudmundsson, Stach, Gruev, Longstaff, James, Calvert-Lewin, Gnonto

Newcastle preview: Too soon for Woltemade

Newcastle are unlikely to be able to call upon new signing Nick Woltemade this weekend, and with Alexander Isak on the verge of a move to Liverpool, the Magpies will once again be without a striker. Anthony Gordon's suspension doesn't help their cause in attacking areas.

Predicted lineup: Pope (GK), Trippier, Thiaw, Burn, Livramento, Miley, Guimaraes, Ramsey, Elanga, Osula, Barnes

Player to watch: Harvey Barnes

With Anthony Gordon out injured, Harvey Barnes is the most experienced member of the Newcastle attack, and it will be up to him to make things happen at the weekend. He is likely to line up alongside new signing, Anthony Elanga, and the raw William Osula. Last season, Barnes scored nine Premier League goals and provided four assists.
