The weather outside is cold but the January window is certainly hotting up as we head into the final few days. Here, we take a closer look at some of the latest transfer news today.

One of the biggest stories of the day comes from Old Trafford, with Manchester United chatting to a member of their squad about a new contract.

Elsewhere, Mo Salah’s future appears to be away from Liverpool following a couple of recent media reports.

Here are the biggest headlines of the day…

Antoine Semenyo? Done! Marc Guehi? Done! Is Elliot Anderson next? Manchester City have already made two high-profile signings during the January transfer window, though it does not appear that the Citizens are finished shopping.

According to the latest report by Caught Offside, Pep Guardiola’s men are one of three clubs currently pursuing the 23-year-old Premier League sensation.

Chelsea and Bayern Munich are the other two clubs showing interest, though their involvement has seen Forest’s asking price skyrocket to around £80m – a figure which scared away Manchester United.

Media reports have dubbed City as favourites to get the deal done, though with the player contracted to Forest until the summer of 2029, Forest are in no rush to sell. In fact, any deal is likely to happen in the summer.

Mo Salah set for Liverpool exit

According to latest information from the Telegraph and the i Paper, Liverpool superstar Mohamed Salah will leave Anfield at the end of the season to sign with a Saudi Pro League club.

Salah was embroiled in a high-profile spat with manager Arne Slot in late 2025, though tensions have since diminished – mainly thanks to the Africa Cup of Nations and Salah’s participation with Egypt.

Nevertheless, the 33-year-old is still expected to leave the club in the summer, with Saudi Pro League insiders telling the i Paper that the forward has no long-term future on Merseyside.

The Saudis have been pursuing Salah for a long time, and even had a £150m bid turned down a couple of years ago. The player’s contract runs out in 2027, meaning the price tag will be a lot lower should negotiations resume this summer.

Man Utd start talks over new Kobbie Mainoo deal

An exclusive report from Sky Sports has revealed that Manchester United are ready to open talks with Kobbie Mainoo regarding a new contract.

On the same day that the Red Devils announced Casemiro’s departure at the end of the season, the club are now turning their sights towards youth and are hoping to pen a new deal with the 20-year-old.

Representatives of both parties are understood to have met shortly after Mainoo’s impressive display in the Manchester derby last weekend. The player will be looking for a significant salary boost considering his current wage is among the smallest in United’s first-team squad.

Mainoo was expected to leave Old Trafford after failing to feature in Ruben Amorim’s plans, though with the manager now gone, the midfielder is hopeful of becoming a key part of the club’s future.
