A fresh day in the Premier League transfer window brings another wave of drama, anticipation, and a fair bit of chaos.

Up and down the country, clubs are scrambling to fine‑tune their squads before the new season arrives, with deals being chased, negotiations dragging on, and new rumours popping up by the hour.

With the clock ticking and less than a month left to get business done, Football Whispers takes a look at the top headlines dominating today's backpages.

New Manchester City boss Enzo Maresca may once again look toward familiar faces as he works to strengthen his squad ahead of the new season.

Savinho has recently been linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur, and City are reportedly lining up Chelsea’s Pedro Neto as a potential replacement.

Fabrizio Romano claims the 26‑year‑old is firmly on their list of targets, though any deal will depend on how the Blues choose to value him just two years after paying £54 million for his signature.

Romano also reports that the FA Cup winners have already made ‘direct contact' with Neto’s representatives, signalling their intent to move quickly should the opportunity arise.

Meanwhile, Chelsea are continuing their efforts to reinforce Xabi Alonso’s backline and have now been linked with a move for an established international No. 1.

According to reports, the west London club are weighing up a move for Porto and Portugal goalkeeper Diogo Costa, who has also attracted interest from Manchester United.

Despite the 26‑year‑old being tied to a long‑term deal in Portugal, it’s believed Chelsea would be prepared to trigger his £52 million release clause to get the deal done.

There’s a growing feeling that Alonso sees Costa as the ‘final piece of the puzzle' in a summer that has already included the record arrival of Morgan Rogers.

Man Utd could move for Morgan Gibbs-White

Man Utd have already invested heavily in strengthening their midfield this summer, and it seems they may not be finished just yet.

Fresh reports have now linked the Red Devils with a move for Nottingham Forest attacking midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White – but only on one condition.

The 26‑year‑old Englishman is viewed as a potential successor to club captain Bruno Fernandes, should the Portugal star leave Old Trafford.

However, with the United maestro showing little sign of wanting to move on at this stage of the window, any pursuit of Gibbs‑White appears unlikely for now, and may be a situation they revisit in the future.
