It is time to take a closer look at the latest transfer news today, with Premier League and European clubs keeping their eyes wide open for potential business deals.

One of the biggest stories of the day comes out of Old Trafford, with Manchester United set to make their final decision on the future of Jadon Sancho.

Elsewhere, Liverpool are hoping to solve their ongoing defensive woes by signing a highly rated £90m Serie A defender.

Here are the biggest headlines of the day…

Man City have emerged as one of several clubs who are considering making a move for Arsenal’s forgotten man, Ben White, according to Arsenal Insider.

The 28-year-old has played a limited role for the Gunners this season, and the Citizens are considering whether to pursue the player in the January transfer window.

Juventus and Atletico Madrid are also monitoring the situation, and both are arguably ahead of City in this particular transfer race, considering Arsenal are not keen on selling players to a potential title rival.

What’s more, the report also suggests that White – who joined the Gunners from Brighton in 2021 for £50m – has no intention of leaving the Emirates in January as he looks to fight for his place in the team.

Man United make final decision on Jadon Sancho

Man United are seemingly bereft of ideas when it comes to Jadon Sancho, and the club are ready to let their £73m investment leave on a free transfer, according to the latest report from Football Insider.

Since signing for United in 2021, the player has been on three separate loan spells away from Old Trafford – including two spells at Premier League rivals Chelsea and Aston Villa.

Both English clubs had options to sign Sancho on a permanent deal, though both opted against it due to his astronomical wage demands – the 25-year-old currently makes £300,000 per week.

Borussia Dortmund, who also loaned the player during the 2023-24 season, are the only team looking to bring Sancho back, and they will be delighted by United’s decision to let the player become a free agent.

Liverpool ready to spend £90m on Alessandro Bastoni

According to the latest information acquired by Italian outlet Il Giorno, Liverpool are willing to break the bank in order to bring Inter Milan defender Alessandro Bastoni to Anfield.

The Reds have conceded 27 goals in 18 matches across all competitions and have only three fit centre-back options following Giovanni Leoni’s serious knee injury.

With that in mind, Arne Slot’s team are now turning their attention to Bastoni in order to reinforce their defensive line, though with the player contracted to Inter until 2028, the Reds will have to provide serious cash.

The 26-year-old is arguably one of the best defenders in Serie A and has also established himself as a regular starter in the Italian national team. Transfermarkt values the player at £70m, but when you take his current contract into consideration, Liverpool’s final bill could be upwards of £90m if they wish to lure the player to the Premier League.
