The sudden turmoil at Newcastle United shows no signs of letting up as club captain Bruno Guimaraes edges ever closer to a move to Arsenal.

Reports now claim the Brazil international is heading to north London for a medical ahead of a huge transfer to the Premier League champions.

The 28-year-old is set to become the Gunners’ second signing of the window, following the arrival of Christos Tzolis from Club Brugge earlier this summer.

Guimaraes is expected to cost around £80 million, which would make him Arsenal’s second-most expensive player ever behind Declan Rice.

Chelsea continue to search for defensive reinforcements following Marc Cucurella’s departure to Real Madrid, and they have now returned to a familiar target.

According to reports, the Blues are prepared to submit an improved offer for versatile left-back Pep Chavarria after Rayo Vallecano rejected their opening £12 million bid.

Xabi Alonso’s men are now thought to be offering around £17 million for the 28-year-old, which remains short of the LaLiga outfit’s £22.5 million asking price.

Chavarria has not featured in any of Rayo’s pre-season friendlies and is believed to have already agreed personal terms with Chelsea.

Tottenham Hotspur have been one of the biggest spenders in the transfer window across Europe, let alone the Premier League, and they aren’t slowing down just yet.

Reports have now linked the north London side with an ambitious move for Galatasaray forward Victor Osimhen, making an initial approach worth £55 million.

The Turkish Super Lig champions are pushing for a fee closer to £65 million, however, meaning Spurs still have work to do if they want to win the race for the Nigeria international.

Their interest comes amid uncertainty over Richarlison’s future, while Chelsea, Manchester United and Atletico Madrid are also keen.
