Latest transfer news today: Arsenal plot surprise £80m swap deal as Harry Kane puts teams on alert

It is time to take a closer look at the latest transfer news today as clubs continue to keep their eyes open for potential business deals.

Today’s big story comes out of Manchester City, with the Citizens outlining their top transfer priority ahead of next year. Pep Guardiola's men are looking to beef up their midfield with one of the most talented players in world football, though a move of such magnitude would not come cheap.

Elsewhere, Manchester United are plotting a blockbuster move for one of the biggest names outside of the Premier League. The Red Devils have already invested heavily into attacking players, but it appears they might make a move for one more offensive superstar.

Here are the biggest headlines of the day…

Manchester City have made PSG midfielder Joao Neves their top priority for the 2026 transfer window, according to reports.

The Premier League side are on the lookout for a long-term replacement for Rodri, who is 29 years old and is coming off an almost blank season following a cruciate ligament rupture in his knee.

Neves has established himself as a key player in Luis Enrique's midfield since his arrival in Paris in 2024 for nearly £55.5m. In fact, the Portuguese star is coming off a season which saw him bag seven goals and 10 assists across 59 matches.

The Parisians are reportedly unwilling to sell their superstar midfielder – something that City are well aware of.

However, that is unlikely to stop the Citizens from trying, with the club ready to table a £105m bid next year. That number is a lot bigger than Neves’ £68.4m value estimation on Transfermarkt.

Arsenal make first move for Kenan Yildiz

Arsenal have reached out to the representatives of Juventus wonderkid Kenan Yildiz in the hope of attracting the youngster to North London, according to the latest report by GOAL.

The Gunners have just finished their summer spending spree, splashing over £260m on signings in the hope of closing the gap to defending Premier League champions Liverpool.

The club are now looking to attract one of the hottest young prospects to the Emirates, with the 20-year-old already attracting a lot of attention – including Chelsea, who had a summer bid of £70m knocked back by Juventus.

Bianconeri value the player at over £80m, and the Gunners will have to come close to that valuation if they are to have any hope of securing the deal.

What might make the deal harder is the attacker's improving form, with Yildiz already producing four goal contributions in as many Serie A games, and also scoring and assisting in the recent 4-4 draw with Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League.

Discount-price Harry Kane on Man Utd's radar

England international Harry Kane is being closely watched by Manchester United, with the Premier League side mulling over a potential blockbuster transfer for the current Bayern Munich man.

According to Sport Bild, Kane wants this season to be his final one at the Allianz Arena, and the striker could be available for as little as £57m – but only if he confirms his future plans this winter.

The 32-year-old is contracted with the Bavarian club until 2027, though reports suggest that Kane is eager to make his Premier League comeback following next summer's World Cup in North America.

The former Tottenham ace has already bagged eight goals in four matches since the start of the new season.

One of his motivations for a Premier League return is to surpass Alan Shearer's goalscoring record, though with Kane still 47 strikes behind the 260 total, the forward would require several high-scoring seasons to surpass the former Newcastle and Blackburn legend.
