Both teams to score

Seven of Koln's last eight Bundesliga games have seen both teams score

With the threat of relegation from the Bundesliga real for both teams, Koln's home clash at RheinEnergieSTADION against Werder Bremen on Sunday could prove key in deciding who survives for another season.

The two teams can hardly be separated, with Koln in 15th with 27 points and Bremen in 14th with 28 points, but they are only two and three points ahead of the 16th-placed relegation playoff spot respectively.

Koln managed to take a point from Eintracht Frankfurt on April 5, drawing 2-2 with their opponents, but that was their third consecutive stalemate in the Bundesliga.

It was also the eighth match in a row that they failed to win, with the club experiencing defeats in half of those fixtures, and their form has thrown them back into the battle for survival.

The Billy Goats still have favourable fixtures against the likes of St Pauli and Heidenheim, but they will conclude their top-flight season with a clash against Bayern Munich on May 16, so they will almost certainly have to make sure they are at least three points clear of the bottom three before matchweek 34.

With Timo Hubers (knee) and Luca Kilian (knee) both ruled out, expect to see Rav van den Berg and Cenk Ozakacar paired together in central defence.

Werder Bremen were beaten 2-1 by RB Leipzig on April 4, their second defeat in three games, though they have triumphed in three of their past five.

It should be noted that the visitors have won their two most recent away contests, whereas they had lost seven and drawn three of their prior 10 matches on the road.

The Green-Whites' record against their hosts has been excellent in recent seasons given they have won two and drawn two of their past four meetings, and they have only been defeated once in nine encounters.

Werder Bremen are facing somewhat of a crisis up front considering Keke Topp and Victor Boniface are both injured, and their injuries could lead to a start for Jovan Milosevic.

Whispers predicts: Koln 1-1 Werder Bremen

Werder Bremen may have improved recently, but their overall record in recent weeks has been mixed, and their inconsistencies could lead to Koln taking a point, a result valued at 3.5.

Given the fact seven of Koln's last eight top-flight games have seen both sides score, predicting Both Teams to Score at 1.62 could be sensible.

If the hosts manage to get onto the scoresheet, it would be surprising if they netted more than once, so it could be wise to predict Under 1.5 Goals for Koln, priced at 1.75.

It should be noted that Werder Bremen have often scored in the second half when playing away from home, and we predict Koln to Win at Half Time, a bet that is priced at 2.63.
