Team Information, Preview, and Karlsruhe vs Liverpool Lineups
Karlsruhe
The German club has taken their preparation period especially seriously as they already played six friendly matches winning five of them. It has to be noted that some of those games were against amateur sides and there were unusual scorelines. Their only defeat came at the hands of the Czech team Plzen, it was 3-0. There hasn't been much excitement lately for Karlsruhe fans, but they will be happy that the team brought some important players like the attacking midfielder Lars Stindl who last season played for Borussia Monchengladbach. Daniel O'Shaughnessy and Efe Kaan Sihlaroglu will miss the game through injury.
Expected lineup: Drewes, Kobald, Franke, Heise, Thiede, Wanitzek, Gondorf, Nebel, Stindl, Rapp, Marino.
Liverpool
There has been a lot of movement at Anfield this summer. Jurgen Klopp's team has made two important transfers bringing in Dominik Szoboszlai and Alexis Mac Allister while there were also some relevant departures. Long-time players Robert Firmino and Alex Oxlade Chamberlain left on a free transfer, the same goes for Naby Keita. There is speculation that Fabinho and Jordan Henderson could be next to leave as there are big money offers from Saudi Arabia's clubs on the table. If that occurs, the money earned will be reinvested into players that Klopp has marked as potential replacements.
Expected lineup: Kelleher, Konate, Gomez, Tsimikas, Alexander-Arnold, Bajcetic, Thiago, Mac Allister, Szoboszlai, Gakpo, Nunez.
Player to Watch: Dominik Szoboszlai
The Hungarian international made a huge leap as a player during his time at RB Leipzig and Liverpool decided to activate a release clause in his contract and bring him to Anfield. The 22-year-old has spent the last two years at the Bundesliga club appearing in 91 games while scoring 20 goals and delivering 22 assists.
He is one of many players that were brought in from Leipzig's sister club Salzburg where he impressed even more so before moving to the Bundesliga. Even though he is still very young, Szoboszlai has been capped by the Hungarian national team 32 times scoring seven goals.
Starting lineups
Starting lineups are usually released 60 minutes before kick-off.
