Rumors have it that 28-year-old Joshua Kimmich is prepared to open a new chapter in his professional career. After a two-year spell with Red Bull Leipzig, in which Kimmich made 53 appearances and scored thrice, he was swiftly added to Bayern Munich’s winning machine.
It’s clear for all to see that the defensive midfielder is one of the key players for the Bavarian giants. During his eight years with the club, Kimmich made a whopping 234 official appearances for the team, in which he scored on 25 occasions, whilst also providing teammates with numerous assists.
Obviously, those stats are enough to make you a club legend, so we find it hard to believe that Kimmich will leave his comfort zone to play elsewhere. However, with transfer news intensifying in recent weeks, perhaps there might be something to those rumors. After all, who wouldn’t want to have the like of Kimmich on his roster?
There are already some top contenders for his signature, with Catalan giants Barcelona, Premier League’s Arsenal, Liverpool, and Manchester City the most likely to add him to their squads.

To stay at Bayern Munich – 6/1
As we stated earlier, Joshua Kimmich has had a fantastic career at the Allianz Arena. He’s one of the most beloved players by the fans and he has a firm starter’s position at the club. With manager Tuchel eager to keep him at the club, we don’t see a real reason for the 28-year-old to abandon all of that.
Kimmich himself addressed those rumors by saying that he still has a two-year deal with Bayern Munich and that both he and the club have some great plans together. We should take his word for it, so that’s why we see Bayern Munich as the top favorite to have Kimmich on their side during the 2023/24 season.
Liverpool – 7/1
As if spending a fortune on Dominic Szoboszlai and Brighton’s Alexis Mac Allister wasn’t enough, coach Jurgen Klopp has his eyes on 28-year-old Kimmich. Should the Bayern Munich star join Liverpool, he’ll immediately enter Klopp’s starting XI, as there aren’t many players that can challenge him for the defensive midfielder position.
Jurgen Klopp himself said that he’d be on cloud nine if the transfer goes through, but with no Champions League football for Liverpool this year, perhaps Joshua Kimmich will be less inclined to join Merseyside in the summer of 2023.
Manchester City – 8/1
With news of Kalvin Phillips likely to leave Etihad, coach Pep Guardiola would be a fool not to find a suitable replacement. Sure, Mateo Kovacic can do a fine job in midfield, but we are all aware of the famous Pep roulette, aren’t we?
Ilkay Gundogan was one of Manchester City’s most influential players throughout the last couple of seasons, but even he is no longer a part of the club, as he couldn’t resist Xavi’s offer and joined Barcelona.
Guardiola is known for going only after the best. And Joshua Kimmich is definitely one of the best in his position in Europe at the moment. There’s no debate, Manchester City have the financial backbone to support such a move, but we’ll have to wait and see if the player would be eager to sign with the Citizens.

Manchester United – 9/1
The Red Devils are prepared to put up a fight for the 28-year-old midfielder’s signature. They can’t simply allow fierce rivals City to poach all the best players around. There’d be no competition between the two if Manchester United just let Citizens have them all.
After signing a mind-boggling deal with Adidas earlier this week, Manchester United definitely have the resources to add Kimmich to their side. However, with Brazilian legend Casemiro and Christian Ericksen seeming as locked starters under coach Hag’s rule, Kimmich’s minutes might be in jeopardy, which makes the Red Devils’ offer not as tempting.
Barcelona – 10/1
Sleeping giants Barcelona are an underdog in this race, there’s no denying that. With financial issues plaguing the Catalans in recent years, it’s a mystery how exactly Joan Laporta is going to pull this one off.
Club legend Sergio Busquets joined Lionel Messi on a Miami adventure last month, so now, the defensive midfielder position is wide open. Barcelona definitely have the prestige to lure a player such as Kimmich, however, the team isn’t up to par financially speaking, so a Kimmich move to Nou Camp seems unlikely.
