Looking to respond after opening-day defeats in Group J of the 2026 World Cup, debutants Jordan and Algeria lock horns at Levi's Stadium in the early hours of Tuesday.
The Chivalrous Ones began their campaign with a 3-1 defeat to Austria, while the Desert Warriors suffered a 3-0 loss to Argentina, leaving both sides under pressure to claim a result and boost their hopes of avoiding an early exit.
This will be the fourth meeting between the nations, with the previous three encounters producing one victory each, while the most recent clash ended in a 1-1 friendly draw back in 2004.

Reaching the World Cup for the first time is an achievement in itself, but Jordan would have hoped for a more memorable start, having failed to make the most of an encouraging display against Austria.
Jamal Sellami's men fell behind in the 21st minute when Romano Schmid opened the scoring before Ali Olwan levelled matters five minutes into the second half, netting Jordan's first-ever goal on football's biggest stage.
However, a 75th-minute own goal from Yazan Al Arab and a stoppage-time penalty from Marco Arnautovic condemned the Chivalrous Ones to defeat.
Sellami can still draw positives from the performance after watching his side register 11 shots, four of which were on target. A sharper edge in the final third could prove decisive for the Chivalrous Ones as they chase their first World Cup points.
Defensively, though, there is room for improvement, given Jordan have failed to keep a clean sheet in each of their last six outings, a run that stretches back to their extra-time defeat against Morocco in the Arab Cup final, and they will be eager to tighten up against another North African opponent on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, Vladimir Petkovic will be searching for greater attacking fluency after Algeria failed to register a single shot on target against Argentina despite enjoying 52% possession.
The Desert Warriors were undone by the brilliance of Lionel Messi, who netted a hat-trick in that encounter, but they should feel more optimistic here against a Jordan side with less quality on paper, especially as Algeria remain one of the higher-rated African nations in our World Cup betting guide's outright market.
There is also a noticeable contrast in recent form, with the defeat to Argentina making Algeria's first loss in five matches following an impressive build-up to the tournament.
The Desert Warriors recorded three victories in their pre-World Cup friendlies, including a 7-0 demolition of Guatemala, a 1-0 success against the Netherlands and a commanding 4-0 triumph over Bolivia, underlining their threat at both ends of the pitch.
Competing in their fifth World Cup, Algeria have progressed beyond the group stage only once, reaching the round of 16 in 2014, and they arrive for Tuesday's contest knowing that maximum points would significantly strengthen their qualification prospects.

Whispers predicts: Jordan 1-2 Algeria
Although both nations are viewed as the outsiders in Group J, there remains a clear gap between them in terms of pedigree, experience and individual talent.
Recent form also points towards Algeria, whose loss to reigning world champions Argentina can be viewed as a setback rather than a concern, and the Desert Warriors head into this encounter as favourites.
An Algeria victory is available at 11/20 (1.55), a price that looks worth backing given the factors outlined above.
That said, Jordan showed enough attacking intent against Austria to suggest they can trouble Algeria's defence, making BTTS at 19/20 (1.95) an appealing option.
Over 2.5 goals is priced at 9/10 (1.90), while combining BTTS and Over 2.5 goals offers greater value at 8/5 (2.60). Those selections align nicely with a 2-1 correct-score prediction in Algeria's favour at 9.00.
> Match result – Algeria win at 11/20 (1.55) | Likelihood: Likely
> Over 2.5 goals at 9/10 (1.90 | Likelihood: Feasible
> BTTS – Yes at 19/20 (1.95) | Likelihood: Feasible
> BTTS – Yes & Over 2.5 goals at 11/5 (2.60) | Likelihood: Strong value
> Correct score – Jordan 1-2 Algeria at 8/1 (9.00) | Likelihood: Outsider
