Italian teams in the Europa League & betting tips

AC Milan

It's been an indifferent European campaign for AC Milan this season, dropping down from the Champions League despite a 2-1 win away from home against Newcastle United in the final round of fixtures. Since then, it's been straightforward in the Europa League, getting past Stade Rennais by an aggregate scoreline of 5-2 in the knockout playoff round.

The Italian giants recorded an emphatic 4-2 home win against Slavia Prague last Thursday, which has set them up in a great position to advance into the quarter-finals. After they played out back-to-back 0-0 games at the start of their Champions League journey, AC Milan have been involved in some high-scoring affairs.

Milan have not been involved in a European game that's seen under 2.5 goals since those opening fixtures, so it could be good to back AC Milan to win and Both Teams to Score on Thursday, especially when you can get odds of 27/10.

Atalanta

Sitting sixth in Serie A and currently on the outskirts of 2024/25 European qualification via the league, Atalanta have been one of the most impressive and feared teams in the Europa League this season. The Italian side are yet to taste defeat when playing on the continent, with this unbeaten streak including three matches against Thursday's opponents Sporting.

Sporting overcame underdog status against Arsenal in this competition last season, but a repeat seems unlikely, given that no team has managed to find the back of the net more than once in a single game when playing at Atalanta's Gewiss Stadium. In turn, we're going to tip Atalanta to keep their third home clean sheet in the Europa League this term and beat Sporting to nil at odds of 13/5.

Roma vs Brighton Europa League

Roma

Potentially just five games away from emulating their run to last season's final, Roma were the standout performers in the Europa League last week, when they thrashed Premier League side Brighton 4-0 at home. And this Thursday should see La Lupa finish the job, considering that no side has scored more than two goals against them in a single UEL match this term.

It would be one of football's biggest slip-ups if Roma were not to qualify, especially when they boast the second-highest scorer in the Europa League this season. Romelu Lukaku has scored seven goals in nine appearances, including one last time out against Brighton. And with the Seagulls desperate for goals to make a fight of it, there's a good chance Roma can catch them on the counter-attack multiple times.

Therefore, we're going to tip Lukaku to outscore Brighton on Thursday at 11/1.

Treble accumulator price

If put into an accumulator treble on Thursday, all three outcomes can be backed at approximately 159/1.
