Liverpool to win-to-nil

Liverpool have won three of their last four matches in league and cup, keeping two clean sheets in the process.

Ipswich Town were always going to head into an away game against Liverpool as the massive underdogs but the Tractor Boys challenge has been made even tougher following their 6-0 thrashing by Manchester City last time out.

Liverpool vs Ipswich prediction: Home win and a clean sheet?

Key Stats

  • Ipswich have lost three of their last five league games.
  • The Tractor Boys have failed to score in each of their last four defeats.
  • Over 3.5 goals have been produced in two of Ipswich's last three outings in the Premier League.

Correct score prediction: Liverpool 4-0 Ipswich

We're backing Liverpool to win big this weekend against Ipswich on Saturday but we're not expecting quite as big of a winning margin as Manchester City recorded against the Tractor Boys. The hosts head into this game on the back of a midweek victory over Lille in the Champions League and Ipswich are bound to have been working on their defensive approach following the City thrashing.

Pre-game odds and win probability: Liverpool the overwhelming favourite

  • HOME: 1/8 (1.13) – 88.9%
  • DRAW: 11/1 (12.00) – 8.3%
  • AWAY: 22/1 (23.00) – 4.3%

*odds from Ladbrokes, subject to change

Liverpool are the expected winner of this game with a probability of 88.9%, and we can't see this game ending in anything but victory for the hosts.

Liverpool preview: In good form

Last weekend Liverpool made the trip to the Gtech Community Stadium to face Brentford where the pair played out a tight and tense 90 minutes that almost ended all square.

With the game heading into stoppage time and seemingly heading for a goalless draw, Liverpool substitute Darwin Nunez scored twice to clinch all three points for the Champions-elect.

Joe Gomez and Diogo Jota are both expected to be out of action until next month as both are suffering from injuries.

Predicted lineup: Alisson (GK), van Dijk, Tsimikas, Alexander-Arnold, Konate, Szoboszlai, Mac Allister, Gravenberch, Salah, Gakpo & Diaz

Ipswich preview: Thrashed by City

Ipswich would have been preparing for a tough game at home against Manchester City but probably didn't expect to get as badly beaten as they did.

The Citizens scored three times in the first half without reply and added a further three goals in the second 45 to win the game 6-0.

The Tractor Boys could be without the likes of Chiedozie Ogbene, Conor Chaplin, Kalvin Phillips and Samuel Szmodics for the trip to Anfield due to injury.

Predicted lineup: Walton (GK), Godfrey, Burgess, O'Shea, Johnson, Davis, Morsy, Cajuste, Clarke, Delap & Hutchinson

Player to watch – Darwin Nunez

Darwin Nunez simply hasn't shown the levels of consistency that the Liverpool fans have come to expect from their attacking trio but his cameo last weekend showed that he still has something to offer.

Nunez doubled his Premier League goals tally for the season when he came off the bench to score a brace against Brentford last time out but with seven goals across all competitions, he has to start finding the back of the net on a more regular basis.

Will Liverpool's hero against Brentford do the business?

It will be interesting to see if Nunez finds some form in the second half of the season as there is a good chance that he will be sold in the summer if he can't prove his worth to Arne Slot.
