Inter Milan vs Fluminense predictions: A low-scoring affair
Key stats
- Fewer than three goals were scored in four of Fluminense's last five matches.
- There were less than 11 corners in each of Inter’s last six games.
- Fluminense are currently on a nine-match unbeaten run across all competitions.
Correct score prediction: Inter Milan 1-1 Fluminense
Although Fluminense kept four clean sheets in their last five matches, preventing this Inter Milan side from scoring is easier said than done, as the Nerazzurri have averaged almost two goals per game in their last 10 matches.
Inter Milan's Club World Cup campaign has not been that impressive, as they struggled against Monterrey and Urawa Red Diamonds, despite being the overwhelming favourites.
Considering Fluminense have held their own against Dortmund in this competition, coupled with their impressive nine-game unbeaten run, we are confident that this match will go into extra time.

Inter Milan preview: A few absentees
Inter booked their place in the knockout phase with a win over River Plate, capping off a group stage campaign in which the Nerazzurri were far from their usual selves.
A win over Fluminense will greatly improve Inter’s confidence going into the business end of the Club World Cup, but a defeat would all but conclude what has been a disappointing season for the Serie A giants.
There were fitness doubts for a couple of players ahead of this game. Marcus Thuram, who has not played since the opening match, and Davide Frattesi, who missed all three games, will both be available against Fluminense.
However, there are players who are ruled out of the rest of the Club World Cup, including Hakan Calhanoglu, Piotr Zielinski, Benjamin Pavard, and Yann Bisseck.
Predicted lineup: Sommer (GK), Dumfries, Sucic, Acerbi, Bastoni, DiMarco, Barella, Asllani, Mkhitaryan, Esposito & Martinez.

Fluminense preview: A clean bill of health
After a draw and a win in their first two Group F games, Fluminense closed out the group with another 0-0 draw, this time against South African giants Mamelodi Sundowns.
With two clean sheets and four goals scored, Flu have shown solidity at the back and plenty of potential on the front foot, which should give them a fighting chance against Inter on Monday evening.
Coached by Renato Gaucho, a man who is no stranger to Italian football, having played for Roma in the late eighties. He is the only Brazilian to have won the Copa Libertadores both as a player and a coach, and would be eager to guide his side to their first-ever crown in this competition.
With no injury concerns, Nonato, Jhon Arias, and German Cano are expected to start.
Predicted lineup: Fabio (GK), Rene, Freytes, Ignacio, Xavier, Hercules, Martinelli, Arias, Nonato, Canobbio & Cano.
