Authenticity (3/5): Hojlund on Bundesliga's radar
Rasmus Hojlund's representatives are exploring the possibility of a summer exit from Manchester United, with the Dane striker attracting interest from several Bundesliga clubs, including Bayer Leverkusen.
The story comes from TBR Football, which adds that RB Leipzig and Mainz are also keen on the 22-year-old.
Value (3/5): Transfer fee unclear
United spent a fee in the region of £64million to sign Hojlund from Atalanta in 2023 but there's a feeling the player is not good enough to spearhead the Mancunians' attack and could be allowed to leave for a relatively lower fee this summer. The exact numbers, however, remain unclear.
Suitability (3.5/5): Tends to run into the channels
Hojlund has struggled to deal with the Premier League's physicality but he is still an exciting prospect when his ball retention, intelligent movement, and pace are taken into account. The same traits could come in handy in the Bundesliga, where most sides play with a very high defensive line. He needs to work on his decision-making in the penalty area though.
Upgrade? (3/5): Challenge for Boniface
It is not going to be easy for Hojlund to start under Xabi Alonso from the get-go as the Spaniard already has Victor Boniface at his disposal. Boniface isn't as good as the United forward when it comes to technical ability but he is still more decisive in the final third.
Logic (2.5/5): Best to return to Serie A
Hojlund is a bright talent who could do with more confidence to rediscover his Atalanta form. His reputation in Serie A remains pretty good and with the likes of Napoli and Juventus showing interest, a return to familiar pastures could be good for his development.
Whisper+ verdict: 15/25
A move to Leverkusen makes little sense for Hojlund and as long as Boniface is at the club, it's best for them to search for an affordable option.
