Hearts to win

Hearts have won each of their last four league matches against Falkirk.

Hearts will take on Falkirk in the Scottish Premiership on Wednesday, 13 May, in a match that could be a title clincher for the hosts.

If Motherwell can defeat Celtic on the same night, then all Hearts need to do is defeat Falkirk to become the first team since Aberdeen in 1985 to break the Old Firm monopoly in Scotland.

Hearts are set for the biggest four days in the club's history this week, with eternal glory on the cards for Derek McInnes and his group of players.

Going into the final two games of the season, Hearts have a one-point lead over Celtic in second place, and with the two clubs set to meet on Saturday, the Jambos must win here to mean they only need to draw at Celtic Park to win the title.

There is also a scenario where Hearts win the league on Wednesday night. If McInnes' men can overcome Falkirk and Motherwell defeat Celtic, then Hearts will be crowned champions. As a result, the Scottish Premiership title will be at Tynecastle on Wednesday, just in case.

McInnes will be delighted with how his team have performed all season, but particularly since the league split. Even their away draw at Motherwell on Saturday wasn't the worst result in the world, and has left their destiny in their own hands.

The injury crisis at Hearts cannot be understated, either. On Wednesday, they are without including Marc Leonard, Craig Halkett, Harry Milne, Oisin McEntee, Tomas Magnusson, Craig Gordon, Ageu, Calem Nieuwenhof and Finlay Pollock.

As for Falkirk, the end of the season cannot now come quickly enough. Their form has tailed off over the last month, and they have now just won two of their last eight matches in all competitions.

Despite that, John McGlynn deserves huge praise for what he and his group of players have accomplished this season. Nobody would have had Falkirk down as a top-six side when they were promoted last season, but here they are competing with the league's best teams in the top-six split.

Their performances this season have resulted in McGlynn being nominated for the Manager of the Year award in Scotland. If it wasn't for Hearts' own fairytale season, then he would arguably be the favourite to win it.

Falkirk will line up without the injured quartet of Leon McCann, Ethan Williams, Scott Bain and Louie Marsh on Wednesday night.
