AIK Solna to win

Halmstad have lost four of their last five Allsvenskan games and are in for a tough 90 minutes against AIK, who are unbeaten in 13 of their 14 league matches so far.

The Swedish Allsvenskan returns with a fresh set of fixtures as Halmstad play host to AIK Solna at the Orjans Vall on Sunday. While the home side will look to pull clear of the danger zone, the Gnaget could move top of the table with a win.

Football Whisper’s Halmstad vs AIK Solna examines the chances of both sides coming away with the desired result this weekend.

Halmstad were sent crashing back to earth in the Allsvenskan last weekend when they fell to a 2-0 defeat against Hammarby at the 3Arena.

Prior to that, Johan Lindholm’s men snapped their run of three back-to-back league defeats on June 1 courtesy of a 1-0 home victory over Djurgarden, 19 days before playing out a goalless draw with GAIS in a friendly matchup.

In contrast, AIK Solna returned to winning ways in style last Sunday when they cruised to a 3-0 victory over Goteborg at the Friends Arena.

This was a much-needed result for Mikkjal Kjartansson Thomassen’s side, who had lost their previous three games, including consecutive friendly defeats against Bodo/Glimt and Sirius.

Halmstad have conceded the most goals in the league (27) after 13 games while they hold the second-worst attacking record, having netted just 11 goals so far.

AIK have picked up 29 points from their 14 Allsvenskan matches to sit third in the league standings and could move into first place as they find themselves just two points off league leaders Mjallby.

Players to watch – Johan Hove

Johan Hove has been on song for AIK Solna of late, finding the back of the net in each of the last four matches, having netted just three goals in the 16 games preceding this run.

The Norwegian striker is the Gnaget's leading scorer in the league with six goals to his name, becoming a fan favourite since his move from Groningen in February.

Hove formed the front three with Kevin Filling and 20-year-old Taha Ayari against Goteborg last time out and the Norwegian forward should retain his role in the AIK XI this weekend.
